photopass+ with young children

Hi, I am debating about photopass+ this trip. I have a newly turned 5 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. We will be dining at the CP but it is not on the list of photos offered and CRT but you already get pictures with the meal. They probably will not ride many of the rides offered either except maybe the toy story ride in MK and Splash Mountain. We also will be going during the busy summer season end of July to early August ( my Mom and husband are teachers). I scrapbook so I like the idea of having extra pictures on the cd included and lots of other photos. But, since it is summer, will the wait to get pictures with a photographer be too long to make this worth it? Will I have enough opportunities to get pictures to be worthwhile. It's just a lot of money to spend when you don't know what you will get. My parents and Sister are going to be there also.

If you are not going to have many on-ride photos or meal photos then I would just pre-order the photopass cd itself.

Well, I decided to go ahead and get photopass plus. I made reservations for Chef Mickey and thought that between that picture and the extra cd of pictures (which is $39 on its own), it would be worth it. I just hope during the busy summertime I will be able to get pictures taken by photographers without long waits.

Not sure how familiar you are with the photopass+ card and how it works. Here is how we used it. You only get one actual photopass+ card that is red and you can carry on a lanyard. This has to be presented at on-ride photo purchase locations and some restaurants wanted to see it to get the meal pictures. Other than those two specific photo uses, any old style photopass card can be used to store your in-park photos like normal. Then when you are ready to order your photo cd from the photopass website, you just add all the photopass and photopass+ numbers into the website and everything is added to your cd. This allowed us to separate at times and still get on-ride photos and photos around the parks so we were not missing out on the benefit of what we paid for.

So if your family members are going on Expedition Everest (or any other ride that takes photos), make sure they have the red photopass+ card with them to get the on-ride photo afterwards and you can still use a regular photopass card to get pictures in front of the ride with the younger kids while waiting or doing you're own thing.

Hope this helps and you get nice short lines this summer.

Ok, I'm probably going to sound like a total idiot here, but I have no idea about Photopass or Photopass+....

With Photopass+, do you get printed photos of every attraction/character experience that you do, and a CD with them all on? And Photopass is just a CD? This didn't exist when I last went to WDW and I'm totally clueless (as you can see!) ;)

Photopass is a free card that you carry and hand to Disney photographers found throughout the parks. The card has an id number written on it that you use on the photopass website to see and order your pictures. You can order individual pictures are purchase a cd with all of the pictures and the rights to print them on your own. To save money you can pre-order the cd.

The Photopass+ package gets you the printed copy of the pictures taken at a selection of Character Meals as well as a digital copy of them. It also gets you a digital copy of on-ride photos. The package comes with a cd of all your photopass pictures taken and a bonus cd with some generic Disney pictures or the parks and resorts.

I would recommend looking over the photopass+ site: http://www.disneyphotopass.com/specialoffers/wdwppp.htm as well as just searching this forum or the web for more information about photopass.

We're at the World right now and are using PP+. When we signed up, I had a few doubts but I am now extremely glad we did. I have lost track of how many photos we have on our card. You should have no trouble getting time with a photographer. The parks are fairly crowded now and we have not waited more than a minute or two for a photo. Two things that I have not seen mentioned here that you might want to keep in mind with your young ones... 1) Many of the character meet & greets have photographers. You can have those photos added to your card. 2) Some of the photographers will take magic photos. Your kids will pose as if there is something in their hands and a character will be added later. So far my kids have posed "holding" Tink (on Main Street in MK) and "holding" Baby Simba in AK.

Thank you Snowfire, that was my main concern. I can't wait to go! I've already been buying so much scrapbooking stuff for Disney, so I want lots of pictures!

Actually, after reading the info on the PhoroPass page, I still have a question (total PhotoPass n00b here):

If I want to get photos of my family on the rides, do I need photopass, or can you just come off the ride and buy your photo then (and is it possible to just have it emailed to you instead of getting a print)?

You can just buy the photo. I don't believe there is an option to have it emailed. That would allow you to print as many copies as you wanted and Disney doesn't want that.

It takes too much of our time stopping all the time for the photo pass. The photographers will take pics with your camera. Way cheaper and they turn out just as good.
