Photopass & MB?

Does anyone know what the deal w photopass & the MB is? Can you use your Magic Band in lieu of a photopass card? Do you have to link a Photopass number to MDE? or is Photopass a completely separate thing?

Yes they are linked and you can use the band

You can use the band in most situations. I ran across a photographer that said I had to use a photopass card, but that was only one out of many.
Did you have any issues retrieving your pics? I have read reports of people having all kinds of missing pics when they used the bands instead of a card.

Thank God, no. We stood in line at the Exposition Hall for at least 45 minutes on our last day waiting for our turn. During that time I must have heard at least 10 people complaining loudly that the photos they had taken were not in the list. Every one of them had a MB. Although, to be fair, I don't think it is the MB that was the issue there. I think it was the device the photographer used to scan the band. Several times that the photographers took our pics the device acted funny and they had to rescan my band. Of course I suppose that could have been the band making the device act funny.

I think that happens no matter what. I was missing a whole bunch of pics from AK last time and I used my card. =(

I never used the band and was still missing photos from my PP+ account.

I called and the CM told me they have been having issues with the new web site. In most cases the pictures are linked to your account but for some reason they have not authorized them for viewing on the site. It's a website error not the PP CMs. She could see all my missing pictures from her end and it just took her a second to fix it. She told me if you don't see them within 24 hours to call and they can usually fix it right away.

And what about FP+? Do you still need a separate card for that?

FP+ still needs it's own card but only for the meal and ride photos you can use regular PP for M&G pictures if you split up.

By the way, do not forget that currently, there are 2 photopass sites.. one can have your photos while the other doesnt. (aka the older one, and the new one within the disney.go.com )

At this point, all WDW pics should be loading on the new site only.

I thought I had heard other people saying that same thing. That is what makes me think it is those crappy devices they scan the card/band with.

Yeah. Multiple times the photographer had us wait a minute while they checked the device to make sure it did properly add the pics to the band. However, since the pics now expire from when they were taken only, there is no reason not to start looking at them while you are there. They often have better luck finding the pictures if you stop at a Photopass kiosk the day of to have them look.

By default, the PP site will automatically load the pics from everyone on your reservation. You can get other MBs added to the account, but last time I checked, you need to call PP and have them add it.

Oh ok. I will have to call prior to us leaving... We still have quite a while before we go I am just trying to get all the info... Thanks a lot!
