Looking for recommendations on a bag, preferably a backpack, that will hold a DSLR size camera and a tripod, with room left over for some others things as well.

Also looking for recommendations on a good tripod to use that will collapse easily into a backpack.

Check out cambags.com Plenty of reviews, and most have pictures of what/how people pack in them. You can even select by camera type to make sure the reviews are from people who have the same camera that you do.

It might be worth looking at the gorilla pods for a tripod. These are great for wrapping around railings rather than having to use up floor space (and without people knocking into it).
