Certain parts of the expansion haven't evolved much in the last month. The Castle Walls certainly come to mind. It leaves me scratching my head as to why they would start and halfway finish these things, then stop dead and move on to something else (like the third tent structure for Storybook Circus that sprung up literally overnight).

I totally agree! The passive-aggressive pace of some of the construction seems like an elaborate tease at times. It seems as though, if they brought in a handful of extra workers (or just kept a handful going at the same thing for more than a day or two), the whole thing could be finished in short order, or at least in a logical progression. Instead, they shuffle a small number of people from one project to the next, as though the project manager has ADHD and can't focus on the same thing for more than a day! ; ) I'm sure there's some grand-scale method to it, to which we're not privy, but it makes the construction process maddening to watch... and yet impossible to stop obsessively following. :brick:

I am still impressed by the shear size of the Dwarfs Mine Coaster. It will still be slightly taller than the grey support steel, as they have to add rock work and what not.

Gonna be an impressive sight, let's hope the experience matches the sights.

This came up in a thread recently and one of our resident construction experts explained that it's due to the challenges of construction scheduling. You don't have unlimited workers/crews for each construction discipline so you need to schedule them where they are needed most. The castle wall is important to the whole project, but it not being complete doesn't hold up any other major part of the project. It's possible that the crew working on the wall was waiting for something more critical to be completed so they had them start on the wall while they waited.

I agree 100%! I just got back from our trip this past Saturday, and I was overwhelmed by the height of the steel structure. The photographs posted here did not prepare me for it's massive visual impact in person. From the carousel, it should completely block the view of "mermaid mountain", which is also incredibly breathtaking. Even though the scale is much less grandiose, the details in the Storybook Circus area are equally impressive.

I can't even begin to imagine how mind-blowing the completed fantasyland will be!

If you've ever observed, that is the way the majority of construction sites seem to work. They are building a large new lab building at my school and the way they were constructing things, it always seemed to be so random what they chose to work on that day. But from what @dan said that makes sense why it is that way.

Might have been me, I forget. But this is true, and is referred to as the Critical Path. Tasks on that path must be accomplished in sequence for the global project to complete on time.

if a milestone is achieved and the next critical path item isn't ready, certain trades can work on non-critical tasks to fill the time, rather than pull off and go to another job.

there's a method to the madness :)

A few photos from this past Saturday, June 2 2012.

This directional sign out on the half wall on the final turn of the Speedway across from Mad Tea Party is newer, I don't recall seeing it two weeks ago.

New trees in place around the Casey Jr. area (you can see the roundhouse structure in the background, for reference.)

The tent structure in the back corner is also taking shape above the walls. This should be for the smaller yellow tent as seen in the Fantasyland model over at One Mans Dream below:

Nothing too earth shattering, but just wanted to share what I noticed this past weekend. It's fun to watch all of the little changes adding up every time through. :D

What is that huge monstrosity in pics 8, 9, and 10? I have seen that sitting there for a while now and I am confused...

I believe what you're referring to is the gray steel structure? If so, then it is a lift hill for the Seven Dwarfs Mine Coaster.

Ahhh, thanks. That was really stumping me. It has looked exactly like that for a while now. I guess they haven't progressed that far yet.

Anyone know how they're going to cover the corner of the restaurant building in this photo? It sure does seem close to the castle. I just can't imagine it not being visible at some point. Not to mention the green wall you can see on the other side next to the Village Haus.

It's possible that they are going to do more rockwork to hide that. They just recently started adding more rock work to hide that view from the side which is what the scafolding peeking up behind the rock in the upper right is.
