PHOTO - An aerial view of relocating the original Dumbo from Fantasyland

OK, so I, like all of us here, am not in charge of anything.

But, if I were, here's what I'd do. Clear out Dumbo, fast. Build the Castle Walls, fast. Then--just put construction walls, or maybe something themed a bit nicer than that, between the walls.

On the construction panels, it could say something like "Beyond These Walls, a New World of Fantasy Awaits".

Then on opening day, they could lift a curtain or something like that from between the castle walls sections and open the land.

Now that Dumbo's gone, get the castle wall sections done! It'll make for a tantalizing reveal.

Unfortunately that won't work.

While the "Castle Wall" will be the dividing point between the courtyard and the Forest, it's not the dividing line between the old and new sections of Fantasyland. Pooh and Mad Tea Party are both "outside" the walls, and will be part of the Forest section.

The wall, when it's completed, will essentially draw a line diagonally across Fantasyland from the PVH bathrooms to Mrs. Potts Cupboard (or whatever they're calling it now). It doesn't follow the current construction wall at all, except for the section that can already be seen north of Dumbo.

Im not sure if this has been pointed out in any previous threads, so I apologize if this is a repeat- But one thing that I am going to miss is the views from the "old" Dumbo location. It added to the magic to see the castle, the older sections of Fantasyland, and the other buildings in the area. I am sure that the theme and images for the new location will be great also, but for a little while at least, it is going to feel like something is missing!

Just my $.02

Great photos as always, can't wait to get there in November. :sohappy:

On a side note, I was looking at all of the new aerial photography and in particular the section over the Great Goofini. I noticed that it appears as though there was scaffolding located around the top of the hill before the descent. Am I mistaken in this? If I'm right, I wonder what there are doing and what it will look like when it is completed. Anyone have any concrete infromation on what this might look like other than its part of the new theming? Thanks.

I don't see any possible way that the green building near the tent structures will remain as a part of the backstage area. It seems certain it will have to be repurposed as the tents were or removed completely and the Circus expanded.

HEY, I know what they could do......:zipit:

BTW, amazing pics and just think how historic the removal of Dumbo is from that location. Try to imagine how many people have spun around that central axis over the decades and how many memories those people have of that ride. Wow.

I cannot remember what the "new" Great Goofini will look like. There seems to be a tower on the tracks. Does anyone of you very talented folks have any overlays of what is was and will be?

On the Dumbo memory - mine is riding with my then 3 year old eldest daughter and my little sister. It was during the fireworks and my Dad was sitting on a bench and we were literally being lit up in the fireworks. I can see my Dad's smile as he watched us! A memory for a lifetime:)

Thanks, as always, for the great pics, Scott. So cool to see the development from above.

On another note, I'm concerned about this green B&B showbuilding sightline from the center of Fantasyland (pic from damouse.com):

Do we know what, if anything, is going to be done to block this?

I just realized that the hole in the Goofini tower looks "broken", so I guess it's supposed to imply that Goofy crashed his plane through the tower.

As for the sight lines for the BatB building, there is a small strip of land between the building and the driveway to the employee entrance that is currently being used for construction activities. It might be possible to plant a row of trees there to help block the view of the building.

I had seen this earlier as well. I sincerely hope something is there to block it, even if its a tree to be planted later. When i went to WWoHP the first time and saw the monstrous, undecorated, bright white show building screaming through the bushes and out from the rockwork, my first thought was "oh heck no, Disney would never do that". I sure hope they dont prove me wrong... :zipit:

My first thought was a tree or two as well but last weekend, I took a good look at the place and really, that far back, I think a tree will ruin the forced perspective. I saw a bird land on the Beast's Castle and wow; you can really tell how small it is in reality. There has to be something done about the green section and it really could be something as simple as paint to make it blend in with the front.

Jeez. Seriously. Some gray pain would do wonders. I immediately assumed it had to be a big project.... I wonder how much extra work it would be to extend the rockwork out like 4 or 5 feet....

I have also noticed certain sightlines from all the picture updates....I know it's just super nit-picking, but hey that's kinda what we do here....in addition to the green side of the building being visible of Be our guest, I noticed this "box" on top of Gastons....probably some kind of utility unit or something...& also is the top of the be our guest building supposed to look like part of the beasts castle wall?
