Well, I did it! I just registered for my first non-Disney full marathon. I am going to be running the Philadelphia Marathon on Nov 17th. They had a deal if you were one of the first 1000 runners to sign up it was $15 off. Registration opened this morning and I got the discount. I am hoping I can do better in this marathon than the last one at Disney. It will be nice to train in the same type of weather that I will be running in!

For those who might be interested, there is an 8k and Kids Fun Run on Saturday and then the full and half marathons are run on Sunday.

Kristi - I am seriously thinking about running this race as my fall marathon. I was all-in when the date was on 11/24 but now that they've moved it I am a bit on the fence. $95 is not too bad for a full and I have heard lots of good things about this race as it seems like everywhere I go people are wearing Philly marathon t-shirts. Do you know if they require proof of time for corral placement or is it just the honor system?

It was just honor system unless you wanted seeded/elite status. I know a lot of people were mad that they moved it as it was much easier to do it the week before Thanksgiving for many. I have run halfs in Philly before and they are really fun with good crowd support and lots of sites along the way. Even it isn't too far for us, I booked a room because of the early start.

Yeah that is the other thing I have plenty of friends who live there but sleeping on an air mattress the night before a big race does not seem like a smart plan in my book so factoring hotel cost is a necessary evil.

This race is by far the best Philly course. Seems all the other races just do a brief run in the city and mostly loop around the Schuylkill River. You really get too see a lot of the historic sites in the first half. Manayunk is really fun - usually packed with spectators and the infamous beer stop. I'm probably running the half. I've always liked this race as a prep for Disney.

I am looking forward to it!
