So when should we expect the 1st phase to be done? I'm going down in April( :sohappy: ) and wanted to know if anything would be open by then.

Lee-
Was wondering if, IYO, when enough of the show-building and landscape work is finished, WDI would push the walls back and let us get closer to the areas, like what Disneyland did for the Haunted Mansion (granted that was several years of work)? And when this might be? As I watch construction from backstage I am amazed at the progress. Could April be enough time to finish the facades?
The Little Mermaid is scheduled to open in the Spring/Summer of 2011. I do not think October 2011 is really that far behind. Labor is cheaper in Florida so the option of trying to increase the pace seems more likely in Florida. Test and adjust under stricter California regulations will also provide a framework for getting the Florida attraction up and operating.Since they're already carving out the new moat, they're on a pretty good track to have the non-show-building areas developed far before the pavilions themselves are done - in my opinion.
It wouldn't surprise me if they open the new bridge, and pathway around the future mine ride before LM and BatB.
With that said, I'm still doubtful that they'll complete both of the new attractions/pavilions by October 1, 2011 as some people are predicting. MAYBE BatB since it doesn't have a ride system, sets or lighting. But LM will be a stretch.
It would be awesome if they prove me wrong though.

Good points. I hadn't thought about DL's version opening first, allowing them to work out some kinks before opening day in WDW.
I think they'll be at the latter end of the "Spring/Summer" window, if they do indeed meet that schedule. Summer technically ends on September 21, so they've got 11 months. I guess it's possible. I tackled a hospital expansion in 18 months, so I guess they can build a simple ride in the same time.
I think more the latter than the former.Don't underestimate the fact Legoland opens OCT 1 2011. Disney will want to do something big because that is also WDW's 40th birthday.
