don't get me wrong but I love thunder mountain, but despite its constant minor renovations the coaster has little draw besides its attractive exterior look. the back story to the ride has always been loose, some stories say its haunted others its just a normal mine. I've been looking for some way to give magic kingdom a slight dark edge (just a ride or land) well while looking around online I looked deeper into Disneyland Paris' phantom manor and I got an idea... redo thunder mountain as phantom mountain, a mine haunted by a mysterious phantom cowboy (different than phantom manor) who terrorizes guests as they race through the mine.
including a slightly altered paint and creepified mine queue and eerie sound track, also modifications would by made to the track to prevent the obnoxious track clicking when guests ascend. '
The scene in the beginning in the caverns with the bats would b altered to introduce the phantom, several audio animatronics of the phantom would b added through the mountain with him on his skeleton horse to giv the effect hes chasing u. Tumbleweed (the town) would b changed to look like the haunted thunder mesa from Disneyland paris
PM12.jpg
..... special effects and the classic ride experience would really bump this classic coaster up

I actually like this idea. While there is an existing back story, you have to admit that it's totally missable to the average person. A phantom cowboy mountain near a haunted mansion sounds pretty golden to me and could actually provide a way to give Frontierland/liberty Square and interesting back story as a whole like Thunder Mesa does for Paris. The location of BTM is actually good too as its kinda secluded and in the corner.

The backstory I am familiar with is that it is a runaway ghost train, so yes it does have a haunted background.

That's what it is on Kinect Disneyland Adventures at least.

an old song about the ride, and early publications suggest a train that left the station full of miner but never came back... but the story doesn't tie in or even come up at all in thunder mnt.

yea, also it means the ride is closed for at least a month before and after ... also a lot of people miss out on it
Have you ridden Ghost Galaxy before? I think it's good but only really for Halloween, any other time of the year it would feel out of place in Tomorrowland. Space Mountain takes you on this epic adventure but ghost galaxy is just exciting the first time. I think with that epic adventure gone there is little reason to visit Tomorrowland.

im not suggesting getting rid of space mountain AT ALL just saying maybe a separate attraction year round with that theme
