Phantom Manor

So I just watched a ride through of the Phantom Manor attraction at Disneyland Paris. Aside from the French audio (which I couldn't understand since I don't speak French) I noticed that it had a whole different feel.

There's a definite storyline, which I enjoyed, and the whole thing is far more grisly and gruesome, not to mention frightening. Why is it that WDW's and DL's aren't as creepy and filled with skeletons and corpses?

I'm not complaining, I love WDW's HM just the way it is, but I was just curious as to why Phantom Manor is gruesome and has a storyline, whereas the WDW mansion is much less creepy and does not feature a prominent story?

I'd love to see them give us the story in the new movie Guillermo del Toro is doing. I wanna know more about Master Gracey, the Hatbox Ghost, and the Bride (Constance Hatchway).

I STRONGLY Recommend Martin's Phantom Manor Tribute to hear the original Vincent Price audio that was used during the first few years before it was changed to the French audio...

The reason there is a story is that it fits with the Frontierland area.
I'll give you a small breakdown..

It involves the Town of Thunder Mesa (Which was to be a ride at WDW called Western River Expedition) where Gold was found on Big Thunder Mountain by Henry Ravenswood which is the owner of Ravenswood Manor. As the towned prospered it also had it's woes..A big earthquake swallowed the town of Thunder Mesa and many of the townsfolk left.

Which brings us to Ravenswood Manor. Henry had a daughter named Melanie who was to wed a miner who worked at BTM. However Henry refused the marriage and his vow to stop it at all costs. Sadly Henry's life was taken during the big quake leaving Melanie the mansion and her groom to wisk her away and be married...Or so she may think..To this day people say they still see Melanie roaming the old manor waiting for her love to return.

I find this as the most unique of the mansions as it has the story and the music composed by John Debney. Also the citizens in the Phantom Canyon might look familiar as they were the same molds of characters used at Epcot mostly of World of Motion and The Mayor who greets you with Paul Frees ghost host audio is none other than Dreamfinder from Journey Into Imagination.:D

I guess you can say that with Dreamfinder being in this attraction one quote he says fits Phantom Manor very well...
"What chilling words like Shreek or Killer can spark the mind to start a thriller! Add some more sparks like Dagger, Blood and Gory! And Muwahahaa A Mystery Story!"
