I know that the original isn't on toI many people's top 5 Disney Movie list, but it was my absolute favorite as a kid.

So when the new one got announced I was horrified. First and foremost because I don't think I'm old enough for all of these "remakes" from my childhood. Secondly, because I thought I accidentally clicked on The Jungle Book trailer before realizing it was in fact Pete's Dragon.

I have tickets to see the 3D movie tonight. So I'm trying to have an open mind going in..

Anyone else going to see it tonight?

Might take the kids to see it for a matinee tomorrow. It's too dang hot out to do outdoors stuff this weekend (100s in my area) and we've already finished our back to school shopping.

I'm a little perplexed by this remake as well. I'm a child of the 70s/80s, so I really did love the original. I bought it for my son earlier this year along with Bedknobs and Broomsticks and it seems like those hybrid films are now some of his favorites.

And Elliott is everything that is awesome about the MSEP. I hope I can see it one last time when I go to Disneyland in November......

The trailers for this new one seem so brutal. I'm dithering about whether it might be too scary for a 4 and 6 year old.

Ok well change of plans. My kid got invited to a Bengals pre season game, and he chose that over our Pete's Dragon plans. Guess I'll be waiting to form an opinion on the movie.

I was so sad that my son chose to take a nap every time the MSEP was happening last year..and now we won't get a chance this coming winter. :(

As far as the new movie being brutal, I checked common sense media..(great website if you've never used it!) and it actually doesn't sound brutal or scary..even though the trailer made it look that way.
