Pete's Dragon Remake

Sorry if its a repost, I couldn't find anything when I searched.


We picked up a DVD of Pete's Dragon for the 4 year old and 2 year old... They like it.

So, of course I have been reading up on the movie, seeing who is in it, trivia, etc... Honestly I didn't care about that stuff 30 years ago when I watched it as a kid. Today I find out that Disney is set to remake Pete's Dragon, except... it will not be musical and they are totally rewriting the story? HUH??

Does Disney think this is going to turn out well or are they just totally nuts?

They live action films have been picking up lately. I think good things are to come. If they do a live action pete's dragon and make it dark and more realistic, then it could work.

Its a bad idea all around -- it wasn't all that popular the first time around, but it had the gimmick of animation and live action going for it and a decent musical score (and every high school in America sang "Candle on the Water" in choir)...but ultimately its a not very compelling storyline -- and casting Jim Dale (a West End and Broadway actor, best known for Barnum at the time) in the lead was a huge mistake...
