I've finally got the courage to make a thread! Anyways, I've been seeing the commercials for the Peter Pan Diamond Edition DVD, which I bought today and is watching right now, and at the end it shows the computer animated Tinker Bell. This makes me kinda angry because it's promoting the movie where Tinker Bell started and DIDN'T TALK!!!! I don't really like the new Tinker Bell because she's not as sassy and I don't like her talking. So... Yeah... MY FIRST THREAD!!!!!!

I absolutely HATE the way Disney has pretty much ruined the character of Tinker Bell. Peter Pan is one of my favorite books and I've read it multiple times. It's a beautiful, classic story with rich characters, Tink being one of them. The best thing about Tinker Bell is the fact that she has no voice, but she's still a little you-know-what, and she uses her body language to express how she feels. Why did Disney have to go and screw that up?! I was so mad when I heard her speak with her lame friends. Now, she has a sister. My gosh, why? WHY????

Some things are just better left alone; Tinker Bell was one of them. The funny thing is, she talks during her meet and greet at Pixie Hollow at DL, but in the DL parade, she's the "silent" Tink.

The more I talk about it, the more upset I become. When I heard they had created a sister for her, I really wanted to just scream.

Well if it makes any difference my 3 year loves the new tinker belle and her sister periwinkle. So I guess from a marketing side it works with the younger set but I can see why traditional tink fans wouldn't like the changes.

I totally agree! I prefer Tink to be sassy and short tempered... She was such a great character and she didn't even need to talk!

I get that the fairies have gained popularity and all (even though they are just made for DVD movies). I just hate how they completely changed a classic character.

I watched the new Tinker Bell DVD "The Great Fairy Rescue" the other day (okay, okay. Don't steal my lunch money). And I kept thinking: why are her eyes so SMALL????

I mean, look at this:

They barely look like the same character. The other fairies' eyes looked more like Tink's eyes than Tink's eyes, if you see what I mean:

It really cheezed me off. Bad enough that she talks, and with a generic voice that doesn't reflect Tink's fiery personality at all. Bland city. Bleah!

I will say, though, that the Great Fairy Rescue is the best of the Disney Fairy movies IMO. (I've seen 3 of them - hand off the lunch money!) It has Tink interacting with humans, and communicating with them in her signature jingling-bell voice. A rather nice story too. Kind of reminiscent of the story of Peter Pan. Guess that's why I kind of like it.

Also, when she talks at her meet-and-greets, you have to remember that the idea is that we the guests magically shrink down to the fairies' tiny height just before we go to meet them, since they only "jingle" when they try to communicate with normal-sized humans.

Tinkerbell is definitely not the same character. Having Tink talk is not character development. The ruination of a character, sure.

I can get upset all I want, and I'll continue to be upset over it. You like the current Tinkerbell, I don't. So what? I'll continue to bash her as long as I want. Screw the new Tinkerbell and her stupid friends.

Tink's friends are NOT stupid! You, AllyBaker3, CosmicCommando and MadTea_Party ARE getting upset for no reason! YOU 4 are the ones who are stupid here!

Please get it through your thick skulls that the Tink in the Fairies movies IS the same character whether you like it or not! She was ALWAYS able to talk (even if it was just in jingles in the past, do your homework)! And there are absolutely NO ruinations with her whatsoever!

Plus, the fact that they do show new layers of Tink's character IS character development, NOT ruination!

Yes I do realize that I am very stupid for having my own opinion.

Did I ever say I hated her friends? No. I actually really like her friends. I just have my opinions on Tinkerbell.
