New Orleans Square terraced walkway modifications:

image_14-5.jpg

I am thinking Disney is set to remove the upper most brick terraced viewing, while the oversized planters across the path from the haunted mansion grounds are trimmed down, matching the size of the rest along the remaining stone terraced walkways (widening the entire top path substantially). This would be the cheapest solution.

This is that awful pinch point between the French Market and Haunted Mansion. Every time I've tried to get through there in the last 25 years during or before Fantasmic there was some crowd control CM positioned at this exact point bellowing "STAY TO YOUR RIGHT!!!" and frantically waving a flashlight as the massive tides of humanity ignored him and pressed on whichever way they wanted in a gridlocked mess.

The only thing that will fix this is if this new project is installing a giant Vegas-style neon sign here that says...
"STAY TO YOUR RIGHT! COCKTAILS! DANCING!"
All those poor air-traffic controllers in training!! What will they do!

OK, this is a new permit, but it doesn't say much:

BLD2018-03845 Disneyland - SW - DL Frontierland Expansion - BLDG 10070 - Tenant Improvement

I looked back through the posts to see if BLDG 10070 was listed. It was:

BLD2018-02794 Disneyland - SW - DL Frontierland Expansion - Area Site Development Adjacent to Bldg 1007 - New Steel Sculpture Ship Anchored to Existing Pad. Foundation under permit BLD2017-02850

Going to that permit number, it's been revised:

Disneyland - SW - DL Frontierland Expansion - Bldg 10070 - New per-fabricated ship has one stunt performer only. Anchored to existing pad. Foundation under permit BLD2017-02850

So, a ship with a performer on it.

I called this stuff months ago. Maybe i took it a step further and insinuated that guests would be able to access these balcony areas and the lookout tower on battle escape, as bounty hunters and the like, but this is proof I was half right. Many of those buildings are built to scale. We can see the door on that lookout tower on battle escape and its quite clear there will be cast members up there keeping watch over batuu.

Given Disney's pitch that GE would be interactive and have CMs in character, it wouldn't be surprising to have StormTroopers manning check points, Resistance and First Order pilots by their fighters, and maybe even Chewie in the Falcon's gun turret.

Folks, here is a great article perfectly matching this thread...

It’s no surprise to anyone who follows Disneyland news that there’s lots of construction going on there these days. In fact, you can see much of it from the Mickey & Friends parking lot, including the top of the new Star Wars land and the huge new parking garage. The people at BuildZoom went one step further, though, and analyzed the Disneyland Resort’s top 10 highest-priced building permits issued over the last year, since August 2017.

The permits include projects at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure theme parks, the recent remodel at Disney’s Grand Californian hotel and some changes at Downtown Disney.

Now, building permits are often issued in series as a project goes on, so one permit doesn’t necessarily tell the entire story, especially on a major site such as Disneyland. Also, the cost estimates are made by the contractor, and don’t include later changes or furnishings. Still, it provides an interesting glimpse into the park, provided by BuildZoom, an Internet company that connects homeowners with contractors.

Here’s what they found over the last 12 months:

1. $100 million. Disneyland’s new “Cleo” parking garage under construction next to the existing Mickey & Friends garage. Whew, that’s a lot of money to add 5,500 spaces to the former 1,000 spaces that were on this surface lot. Look down next time you’re there, you’ll see the bulldozers at work. According to the permit, this has been code named “Cleo” and will comprise 2.3 million square feet over six stories.<<

The other nine at the link.

Disneyland Resort’s Ten Most Expensive Construction Permits From the Past Year

August 24, 2018 By Kelsey Graeber Leave a Comment

Since August 2017, Disney has been issued more than $202.6 million in construction permits for the top ten most expensive new attractions and additions. By analyzing the building permits filed with the city of Anaheim for the Disneyland Resort, we can see what new projects will be redefining the parks’ biggest attractions over the next few years.
Disney has recently announced significant updates and additions to the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure (“DCA”) theme parks in Anaheim, California. With Disneyland’s “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” under construction with an expected opening of 2019, a Marvel superhero land in the works for DCA, and significant changes to the hotels and parking structures underway, the complex will look significantly different than it did during its grand opening in 1955. The following projects represent the ten most expensive permits issued for the Disneyland Resort attractions since August 2017.<<

don't really know much about this "permits" thing but wouldn't these give a good idea of total cost of construction for a full project if collected added up?

The paragraph quoted above says Disney has been issued more than 202.6 million of permits since August of 2017. Since August 2017 their has been quite a few projects including the Pixar Pier project and all the large modifications for walkways in Disneyland and of course SWGE.

The amount seem a bit small considering that some had speculated that Pixar Pier's budget was high
