People You Know Who Hate Disney...

Hey all,
So I was sitting here at my desk, reading the boards and I had a thought. Almost everyone who subscribes to these forums has a somewhat affection towards Disney, and we enjoy discussing such. But what about those of us, or those we know who don't care for or down right hate Disney and all it stands for? An example I can give is my father, he has always had a distaste for Disney, considering it a "Fantasy World" (It's pronounced Fantasyland;)). "It's a place created for people who want to escape the reality of the real world. As a result, if a person stays in that world too long, that person is not going to be prepared for life". This is the philosophy he lived his life by and still does to this day. But anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else knew someone with a similar case? Someone you know who just can't be won over by the mouse. Because really, who could ever hate Disney?

Growing up in Orlando, dealing with people like this was an everyday occurrence. A good 70% of teenagers and even a lot of adults think Disney is "gay" as they so eloquently would put it. An overpriced carnival for kids with no taste. You just learn not to mention it around them or hang out with the other 30% that's as obsessed as you are.

Me...I was at the world at least once a month for about 22 years and I think I'm not too worse for the wear. Maybe a bit more optimistic than average but that can't be a bad thing can it?

IMO who cares if someone doesn't like Disney? It's not my place to judge them based on their like or dislike of certain place. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion, whether that be liking or disliking Disney.

It's not the part about them not liking Disney; it's when they start questioning why I like it so much that irks me. To me, I can say "Yup, whatever" but they should have the same courtesy for me.

I have a family friend who HATES amusement parks. Or, at least he says he does; he's never actually been to one. He says he doesn't like Disney because it's "fake". Just to needle him, I posted pictures from Animal Kingdom on the safari on Facebook and then tagged him in the comments. It's one thing to go and not like it; saying you hate amusement parks and never actually going to one is certainly another. He tells me I ought to go someplace else. So I make it a point to mention when we go to Disney's Hilton Head Island.
