Peanut Allergies

Help! Does anyone have any experience (personal or anecdotal) regarding peanut allergies and dining in the World? Our 3 year old DD has a SEVERE anaphylactic reaction to peanuts. I have made a few PS for our trip at the end of September, and other than having the CM note it in the comments - what else should I do?

Also, has anyone out there had any problems carrying an Epi-Pen through the various security checkpoints?

I'm allergic to Peanuts as well, and I haven't had any problems with WDW food. I'd just ask beforehand.. before you order your food. As for the medical equipment, if security asks, just explain, and worst case scenario, they'll ask you to check it at First Aid (where they'll also keep it refrigerated). That's just worst case though

Thank you so much for bringing this topic up. It is something that I never would have thought about until I got there. I have severe food allergies too. Mine are more fruit oriented with a few nuts mixed in. My boyfriend also has asthma and it's a relief to know that we can carry our meds with us.
Thanks again

An Epi Pen should be kept with you at all times...as well as any asthma inhaler and diabetic meds. When they first started searching bags they were unsure what to do with these types of things (as well as diabetic testing kits). I think everyone is up to speed now and they realize that these have to be kept readily available.
wdwig.com is very helpful (I'm diabetic). I've also found that everyone is helpful...when you order if they don't know what is in a dish they will ask the chef.
I'm sure you are already vigilant when it comes to these sort of things...just keep doing what you usually do.

I have had a pretty bad experience at a restaurant here in CT but never at Disney. The waitstaff is always knowledgeable about the food but if they are not sure they are more than happy to ask. I am alergic to nuts in general, whether it be peanuts or walnuts or almonds... its quite a hassle. But epi pens are just for people like us... and i mentioned this in another thread on the topic, Disney does not have any problem with you carrying them around. Ive had to do it many times and have never had a problem. I can even bring it on the airplane.
