Paying for Purchases Put on KTTW Card

If I opt to get charging privileges on my KTTW card, do I get the option of just paying for those charges in cash at the front desk of my resort throughout my trip or can I only pay at the end of the trip with a credit card?

I personally prefer not to use credit cards and will be paying for things in the park with cash. However, I like the idea of having a bit of a cushion with the KTTW card, in the event that I am in the park, something catches my eye, and I don't have quite enough to make the purchase right then and there. If I were to do this, I would rather just pay that when I got back to my resort, as I don't want any surprises by forgotten purchases at the end of my trip.

When you check in, they link your KTTW card to your credit card, so it charges straight to your credit card as you go. Maybe if it was a prepaid Visa it would work? Anybody?

im pretty sure they dont charge you straight away its when you reach your pre arranged limit??? depends on the resort aswell, i remember reading delux resorts have a higher limit than value, defo dont charge it straight away as we stayed at the boardwalk last time and i had only like $400 on my card and they pre authorised it and we spent way more in the end, just kept paying it off with cash!

I am nearly positive that it does not charge directly to your credit card as you go. The reason they take your credit card information is simply so that they can charge your credit card if you don't pay. I have paid for our KTTW charges at check out using gift cards.

We will have a credit card that we will link to our room, but absolutely prefer to "pay as we go", as I only consider credit cards to be used for emergencies. Just my own personal preference. Thank you for the feedback. Good to know I won't have to settle a bill when it's time to check out.

You can make payments anytime during your stay but you need to pay your balance off before the last night of your reservation.......if not the charge will be put on your card.

Normally you get charged at the end of your stay, or when you hit the limit if you ask them to increase it. However, I had seen some people reporting that they were charging the card on a daily basis. This was in a discussion on the recent arrest of people who were scamming WDW by leaving a dud credit card and then charging stuff and leaving without settling the bill. So they may have changed the policy lately, but I would hope not. Anyone else been there extremely recently able to chime in?

They will only charge to your card after you reach your resort-level limit [Value - $500/Moderate - $1,000/Deluxe - $1,500, they will charge your card that night or right away if you call and request it, but you won't be able to charge further until it's settled] or the night before you check out, whichever comes first.

It's as easy as ABC. We use the key/world card all the time.At the end of our vacation we pay up with one transaction on our no percent visa card. And it's a better rate from $ to £.:)

I tried once to preload a giftcard on to my KTTW charge and they could not do it until there were charges on the room. So what we do is stop by during the stay and pay, use the giftcards, or the reward points on the card. It is just that you have to have the charges processed through from the parks, dining, shopping before you can clear it, so figure on at least a day between using your KTTW and being able to pay it off.

You can also set up a room account using cash, which you then would debit from as you go. At checkout, if there's anything left over, you'd get a refund.

Not all CMs know how to do it, so it might require them to pull out the front desk manual or to call in a supervisor.

And if you set up an account with a credit card, they can also set your pre-approved limit to something *lower* than the standard 500/1000/1500 levels if you ask them to, to make sure you don't over-spend. (It's only lower limits, they can't increase it) Again, not all CMs know how to do this, and a manager might be required.

Instead of using a credit card you can use your debit card. This way you are just using your money in your bank account. We don't add to the KTTW, we just preload Disney Gift Cards before our trip. This way we don't over spend.

We were not immediately charged on our June 2010 trip. I went to the front desk every couple of days & paid down the balance with Disney Dollars, Disney Gift Cards, & Cash. Anything we purchased on our last day was charged to the credit card.

If I put my visa debit on my room account - do they hold an amount for my stay? I do not want to put up a CC. So if I can use my debit card and link it to my MB that would be great.

Disney does not put a hold of any kind on your card, no matter what type of card you give them. They only run an authorization for $0.00 to ensure that it's a valid card. They only charge it when a) you've reached the pre-determined charging limit, or b) the night before you check out.

How about linking a gift card or a prepaid Visa card instead? It works the same as a debit card and if you run out of money you can reload it pretty easily.

We used a prepaid Visa with no problems last year.
