Pay for 1 year old?

We're thinking about planning a trip with our 1 year old (she'll be around 15mos). Would the WDW hotels require us to pay for her as an extra person when booking our stay? Any advice would be appreciated.

No, you will not be charged for their room, park entry or food at that age.
You can also request a crib, free of charge, at the resorts.

You don't pay for the room or park tickets for any children under 3. As far as food goes, buffets and all-you-care-to-eat family style meals are free. If, however, you order a childrens' meal at a CS or TS restaurant, you will have to pay for it.

That is true, but at about 15 months I don't think they will be buying her her own kid's meal.

They are free until they are 3! However I believe they are only free on airlines until they are 2 and they are only free if they sit on your lap. It's safer for them to have a seat so that you can strap them into their car seat.

Ya never know- I've seen some toddlers who can really eat!! :D Or, if Mom and Dad get something the little one won't eat, they might want to order more kid-friendly food for Junior.

Yes, that's true. However unless the flight is booked completely solid, all airlines will allow you to bring on the car seat and put the child in the unused seat.

I remember our first trip with my daughter when she was about that age. She was free on the plane, free at the hotels, and ate completely free the whole stay (not that she ate much, but all the CM's said "absolutely, she can share your buffet.......no problem!!). We all had the best time and I know she doesn't really remember the trip (she's 11 now) but we do, and have lots and lots of pictures to show her.

Have a wonderful time!!!! We'll be there again in April............can't wait.:sohappy:

I see your point.

When my kids were small they never ate much in one sitting and then only potatoes, chicken and broccoli...a veggie they would not touch now if you paid them.

 You've never met my girl have you? hahaha... We order chicken and fruit kidsmeals often, and she'll eat every bite. LOL My girly has a HUGE appetite. (except when she's not feeling well) But, aside from that, this child nearly eats us out of house and home. ;)

For breakfast think: Eggs, milk, cheese, cereal, and applesauce... and by 11:30 she's starving again. :lookaroun :D

My youngest nephew was like that as well, but now that he's turned two he's just as finnicky as the rest of us :p

 I'm sure she will someday... I'm a *select* veggie lover... and right now we have her eating anything and everything veggie/fruit wise... so... I'm sure pretty soon she'll see us being picky and start getting a little choosier herself. LOL

Ohhh yeah! I forgot to add something.

Be sure to tell the disney reservation agent that it's your daughter's first trip, Disney went above and beyond and did some small but memorable things for us while we were on my DD's first trip, picture's in the room signed by mickey and minnie, etc. The little things really added alot of magic to our trip! :)

We just returned today with a 2 year old. Buffets are free but be careful, almost everyone had a charge on it until we told them he was under 3. Also I think the best thing to do with the kids on the plane is to buy a ticket. I know many right now are saying “No way am I spending the money!!!” but I have been on flights were turbulence has thrown adults off there feet and two flights were people have hit the ceiling. My opinion is the money is worth it to have your kid strapped in. Also there is no way I would try and fly with a kid in my lap the whole time.

Resorts do not charge for the kids (as mentioned) and also if the rooms says it sleeps 4 or 5 you can go over the limit by one kid under the age of 3 in a crib.

Also for those who think this is too young for a visit to WDW, our son loved every minute of the trip.

Aloha

Wow! Thanks for the awesome and helpful response everyone. Definitely good to know that there won't be any added costs for our little one. We just have to make sure we go at her pace and not ours.
We're in Seattle so we'll probably get our daughter her own seat. 5 1/2 hr flight is a long time on our laps especially for a very active baby. I envy all of you that live close by.

I'm going to agree with you there. The times we have flown when our kids were small they always had their own seat with their car seat belted in. It was easier for them to nap and get comfy. We are only 2 1/2 hours away by plane, but I have seen small kids meltdown (and the parents and passengers around them too) because they wanted to get up and run around or be passed from parent to parent.

Kids know (even at a young age) that the carseat means business and its not playtime for mommy & daddy. If you can afford the extra seat by all means get it.
