Oh.... that one just hit me like a ton of bricks. 
Thank you for posting this. Paul Reubens was a comedic genius. Truly a national treasure of the past 40 years. And a great loss.
I'm going to recalibrate this evening's entertainment plans ASAP. It seems a mid summer viewing of Pee Wee's Christmas Special is definitely in order now. God bless him, and may he rest in peace. I can only imagine how much funnier heaven is going to become.

I made the family watch the opening scene of Pee-Wee's Playhouse Christmas Special tonight.
The 30-ish nephews and their wives sat in slack-jawed amazement. They had no idea network TV in the 1980's was that weird. Or that fabulous.
And then one of the kids dropped this bombshell... "Isn't that the same guy who was in Reno 911 a few times?"

Even in his mid-sixties, he was able to pull off the physical demands of playing an ageless Pee Wee.
While known mostly for that character and his other comedy roles, Paul Reubens always managed to bring something uniquely his own to every character I ever saw him play.
