So I was on iTunes looking to download George Bruns' Pirate Overture...and I found this little gem, the official album to PotC, released in 2007 for the 40th anniversary of the attraction.
It's got music, sound effects, and best of all, the voicework of X Atencio, Thurl Ravenscroft, and Paul Frees. It's all awesome...but there's one track that poses a bit of a mystery: track 22, labelled "Chase and Jail Scenes"
It's Paul Frees, apparently playing one of the pirates chasing the women around....he's laughing maniacally, screaming "Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha!" and making sloppy Pepe-LePew-esque kissing noises....and he abruptly stops, takes a breath, and declares "I quit."
The track then moves on to "HP 7493", Frees voicing one of the jailed pirates trying to tempt the dog with the bone.
So...does anybody know the story behind this? Did Frees actually find the track so unpalatable that he refused to record any further?
Or was this just a bit of behind the scenes deadpanning that v.o. artists are known for?
