Passporter itineraries

O.K. I'm not trying to bad mouth the publication (which I thoroughly enjoy) but I was reading through the suggested itineraries and was shocked at the advice. Examples:

Touring With Adults
Enter Tomorrowland
Get Fastpass for Buzz Lightyear or Space Mountain
Visit Buzz Lightyear
Visit Stitch's Great Escape!
Visit Space Mountain

Ummm....did we forget the TTA and Carousel of Progress or just think that they do not appeal to adults? :hammer:

Touring with Kids
Enter Fantasyland
Visit Dumbo the Flying Elephant
Visit Peter Pan's Flight
Get Fastpas for Mickey's Philharmagic
Visit Winnie the Pooh
Visit Mickey's Philharmagic

Ummm....couple things here 1. Have we forgotten It's A Small World and Snow White's Scary Adventures? 2. Get a fastpass for Philharmagic and just hop on Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh? When does that work I'd like to go then.

While this travel guide is good for experienced travelers, I worry that a first timer will read that stuff think it is right and have a very disappointing vacation. Any thoughts?

Passporter is not a perfect guidebook, but I don't think that there is a better one. You might want to review the introduction to the itinerary: "Use these touring plans, which focus on the highest-rated attractions, as a starting point" (Marx 123a, 2005 edition). Since IASW was closed for rehab during the prep for the last edition, they might have left it off to avoid confusing first-timers.

I understand the love for TTA and Carousel of Progress; however, CoP is opened seasonally which would preclude it from the list for the same reason as IASW. TTA has lower ratings according to the methodology that is set out in Passporter, so it probably didn't make the cut. <Sigh> TTA is one of my personal favorites, but I understand.

I have the last three editions of Passporter, the last four editions of The Unofficial Guide, and numerous other lesser guidebooks. Having read all of the guidebooks I own cover-to-cover, Passporter is the best edited and fits my needs best. (I love Bob Sehlinger and team, too. ) I used Passporter extensively for our first trip that I planned and was never confused by the guide, but I didn't follow the itinerary verbatim.

My thoughts, per your request  .

I agree with you that Passporter is probably the best out there for more experienced travelers who understand to take it with a grain of salt, but for a first timer I think some of the advice is poor and since they say "The plans work best if you go in the same order" p. 123a, I have to believe that their opinion is that this is the way a 1st timer should see the park. Also I don't believe that the seasonal aspect plays into the Carousel of Progress omission since they suggest going to Wonders of Life on page 139a and on that same page they suggest getting a fastpass for Soarin and on 153a reccomend Lights, Motors, Action so I don't think they left IASW off due to the rehab.
