Passholder exclusive pins

I have to vent..... Can't Disney do anything about controlling the release of exclusive pins to annual passholders?

They announced exclusive AP pins for Soarin' during the previews last weekend. They were sold out on the first day. I arrived on Saturday and not a pin to be found :( Same thing happened last year at the Food & Wine Festival.

Is there any way Disney can limit how many pins are out for sale on each day? If someone can't make it to the park on the first day, they have no chance at getting one, except on Ebay (where they allllllll seem to show up, on the 2nd day - amazing, huh?) Or maybe a scan of the annual pass, to limit how many pins are sold to each passholder? Or allowing passholders to buy them online????

In the case of the Soarin' pin, that as far as I know, was sold only at the main pin station at Epcot. The limit for sales is two per person per day, and if you are buying them for someone else, then you have to have that other person with you and they have to have their AP. When I was there on Saturday, I actually did get my Soarin' pins as well as my F&G Festival pins. When they limit an edition like that and then limit who can actually buy them, that's really about it. I suppose they could find a way to scan your AP in so that they can be sure you are sticking to that limit, but it's up to them if they feel there is enough of a problem with availability that they want to do that. As far as they seem to be concerned with it, if the pins sell out and the rules seem to have been adhered to, then there is no problem. I know that it was pretty busy on Saturday and apparently had been busy on Friday as well since the "Tax Day" pins were nearly sold out as well and I mean, come on. It's a Tax Day pin(though I will admit that I did get the last one I saw there since it had Scrooge on it). I was in line for about 20 minutes and there were a ton of people behind me at the left register and there were pretty much just as many at the right register so I'm not surprised that they did sell out.

I personally think the pins are really starting to get out of control. Some older guy tried to trick my little into giving him her WWTBAM points pins for some normal ones. I was with her and knew what the guy was up to right away. After that she kept the stuff at the hotel and we avioded all pin things the rest of the trip.

OK - thanks... just seemed to me, that unless I am there on opening day, I stand no chance at getting the pins.....

I don't mind people putting the pins on eBay (except when they hawk them for $18 a piece!). Now, I'm not a AP holder, but I thought you had to get a stamp on your hand when you bought a LE pin. Maybe I'm getting this confused with my research on MNSSHP. People shouldn't buy more than two -- really, what do you need them for, but at the same time, the are limited edition.

I totally understand where you're coming from.

at not so scary and very merry last year they punched your wristbands. the soarin' pins were pretty limited in number. it should be one per person when the quantity is that low. my family could have bought 6, and that seems excessive.

If it becomes a problem (read: enough AP's complain about not getting pins) then scanning your AP would be the way to control distribution.

So sad that moneygrubbers are taking away from everyone else's enjoyment of a harmless hobby.
