Part of Norway pavilion store now given to Disney art merch instead

Okay so sadly they have turned part of the Puffins Roost into a Disney gallery section with art of Disney prints, which has nothing to do with Norway. So its continuing to get even less Norwegian since Frozen moved in...This is in the same room as the big troll in the middle..... Frozen is one thing,,, but now its the Disney art work to buy that you can find in any of the art of disney shops.......They are slowly but surely turning the place into just more standard merch.

Could be that Norway doesn't have more merchandise to fill the shop with its own distinctive things to sell so Disneys going to utilize the area to display their art? Last time I went through most of the space was for Frozen merchandise for the girls. No longer worthy calling it the Puffin Roost.

I don't think that's the most likely reason.

It could just be a place holder until a new selection of merch comes in. This has happened in the Canada pavilion before (not with artwork, but with items that were from another shop) when waiting for new items to arrive.

I was there in March and Larry Dotson was there selling & signing pictures. His website says he will be in the Norway pavilion off and on through end of June. He has been at Downtown Disney in the past maybe they don't anyplace for him in Disney Springs right now. I agree with castlecake2.0 that it is probably temporary. I'm glad he was there I purchased a picture of Beach Club that he signed.

To be fair, the HH merchandise is insanely expensive. How many $300 winter jackets are they selling in the middle of summer in Orlando?
And of course after the Disney markup those same jackets would be going for what, maybe $1,200... I think you are actually on to something, I'm not really aware of any quintessential Norwegian products that are darned high to begin with let alone after a Disney markup... what would be the purpose of a store that had nothing reasonable enough for anyone to actually buy?

I've peeked at the price tags a few times, they're insane. At least 250-300 for a modest jacket. And while I know HH is supposedly really good quality, most of the jackets seem super thin, imo. As an Orlando resident, I know I'm not in the market for that quality of a jacket. And I'm not sure what percentage of the average family on their vacation from Ohio are seriously considering dropping that much money on one of those, either.

I agree that the line is very expensive, but you would be surprised how many northern tourists buy that stuff up to take back home, maybe not so much this time of year but in general. And the items always have people trying them on and looking at them. I see more people buying that than some of the frozen merch. The frozen merch in there I have gotten use to at least its contained in its own room area, but it just bothers me that instead of frozen or Norway, its general disney art work moving in. Maybe the artwork is temp but have a feeling its not, its just very out of place. There is so much more they could be offering that is Norwegian.

I don't doubt that it would be mostly northern tourists interested in the jackets. In fact, I think that would be just about the entire market. I just don't see a lot of those moving when families are already dropping hundreds (or thousands) on a week long trip in the first place. Who wants to drag an expensive jacket around the parks when you can just order it online and have it sent to your home.

I think more people are realizing that a lot of the frozen merchandise is identical to the stuff they can get for a fraction of the price in a wal-mart. To me that is the biggest problem with all Disney merchandise, in the past you had lots of things that were only available in a Disney store... Now most of the stuff is identical to what you can buy outside the parks.
