A friend of mine registered for the meet up and his guest cancelled at the last minute, so I was lucky enough to squeak into the event yesterday.
I have no idea what the justification for these events is - what the expected ROI or whatever is - but this event was on the lavish side I thought. I wasn't complaining though!
We were handed our comp tickets to Disneyland at check-in, along with Fastpasses for Big Thunder, vouchers for a parting gift and two raffle tickets. We were then escorted back to Big Thunder Ranch, where a fantastic buffet awaited us in the Festival Arena.
I was shocked at how good the food was. Delicious cole slaw, pasta salad, roasted veggies, red bliss potatoes, chicken and slow roasted beef. It was all WAY better than I expected, and seconds were definitely in order.
Erin Glover welcomed us, and explained our gifts for the day. Mickey and Minnie were on hand (and hilarious), plus free caricature, character, airbrush and name artists. The lines for the free character sketches were very long, as was the name art line.
After raffling off the gift baskets and Captain America fine art print, Erin let us know that we were going to have private access to Captain America in Innoventions later that evening, along with reserved viewing for Magical! Pretty rad.
After eating as much food as we could, we used our Fastpasses for Big Thunder and played in the park until our Cap meet n greet at 7:30. Hadn't been there yet, and meeting him was fun - location was nice too.
The Magical viewing was dead center, just north of Coke Corner - perfect. They blocked off that whole chunk of street just for meetup guests! Crazy.
We were continually amazed by the overdelivering on this event. The parting gift was a mason jar style plastic water bottle with the event name and date and the Disneyland logo, filled with red white and blue jelly beans.
