Parks Attendence UP

From Disney's Quarterly Earning Report:

------------------------------
"Mr. Staggs said that attendance at Walt Disney World grew 18 percent last quarter and that room reservations were significantly higher than last year. International visitor attendance was up 20 percent."
-----------------------------

I can't help but wonder what all of the "Save Disney" fanatics are saying to this. For months now we have heard that the parks are in decline. The decline in attendence being one of the reasons sited as evidence of this suppossed decline.

The real underlying reason is - "Its Been The Economy Stupid." (Let's not forget fear of terrorism.) The economy bounces back, fears reduce, and people just can't keep themselves and their kids away from the Parks. Why, because they can't get the same experience anywhere else. The Disney Parks continue to be and will continue to be the "Place" to vacation. Meanwhile the investment in the parks has continued at a good pace during this downturn and recently bumped up to refelect the new eccomy and the fact that Disney has to stay one step ahead.

Thsi is where I say - "I told you so"

GO DISNEY!!

Only downside to this - I was enjoying having the parks all to myself on those empty days.

It's all of those Florida residents that keep coming in because of the cheap rates Disney is giving.

I wonder how bad it would be if no discounts were being offered.

That and the fact that things such as airfare are at rates lower than they have been for several years as airlines battle it out to see if any of them can even make it through the end of the year, and hotels are now dropping their rates even more to try and draw in customers.

And as for the economy, talk so someone who has been unemployed for a year and has to take a job working at Home Depot just to make ends meet THEN discuss the economy improving.

I agree that the Florida discounts help (Sure helps me  ). However, the attendence is up 20% for international travlers too. Fact is that people are flying in from all over teh country and overseas.

I share your pain. I have been impacted by the economy, big time, over the last 3 years. However, all signs are leading up and I sure hope that your personal economics improve too.
