Parking Suggestion

This may have been previously discussed so forgive me if it has.

On my last WDW trip I noticed that the parking permit had a barcode on it. Now for those who drive to the parks know that there can be long lines at the toll plaza during various peak attendance times. What if they some system that allowed WDW resort guests to use a seperate lane and either have a barcode scanner or a room key reader similar to the resort gates. This would lower the wait for people who arent paying to park and shorten the lines for those who are paying and get people into the parks faster to spend more moneyt on food, souveniors etc....

Anyone have any thoughts?

I would imagine that a lane entrance dedicated solely to resort guests would actually create a longer wait for those using it. That's a lot of people cramming through one lane rather than spreading out through several lanes.

I think smarter/more-informed Guests arriving at the toll plazas would help cut down the lines...

Just like the turnstiles and Counter Service restaurants, people tend to get into the pre-existing lines of cars, rather than looking for the green lights above the lanes. Many times I'll be driving up to the toll booths and find long lines in a couple lanes, but absolutely none in others. Or, one booth will have cars only on one side when both sides are open, either with two CMs in one booth handling the two lanes, or with one CM working both lanes and alternating between the two.

Ever notice how even when there's 5+ booths open, everyone has to cram down one or two of them? My theory is the green lights do not contrast well against the teal facade from a distance, whereas the lines are easy to spot... Maybe a bit of strobe lighting is in order.

How about an RFID-based EZ-Pass/"FastPass" system. You get a resort RFID tag that you place on the dash and you drive right through one of several specified lanes... Like they do for the automated toll lanes?

...and if you try to go through w/o a tag, you are hunted down and forced to scrape gum off the sidewalks.

How about you just git rid of the the fee to park and remove the toll plazas entirely. Traffic flow will improve and the issue of people trying to sneak their cars into the Poly, Contemporary or DTD parking lots will disappear and they can finally start running buses between the parks and DTD again.
