Parking Question

Good Evening

I'm 18 days away from my Disney trip (Yay!!!) We are driving from Texas. I've already checked into the hotel and chose to have our room number sent via Text. Since we have a car we will need a parking permit. Do I still need to go to the lobby to obtain this or will it be in the room?? Just to triple check --- the resort parking pass lets you park for free at the parks... is that correct?

Thanks in advance!!

There is a guard gate at the entrance to the hotel resort. I can not remember if you get the parking permit there or from the lobby. I would think the guard gate as people can get to their rooms without ever visiting the lobby now. You can visit any parks with free parking, I believe they use the MB's. Other resorts may be another issue.

I believe you only need a pass if you park near the rooms or in the guest parking. I rented a car for a day and just left it in the check in parking. Now for long term that may be a different story but I know at PORS or POFQ lots of people park in the check inn parking for a couple days.

Our last 3 trips in 2016, we did not receive nor display any kind of resort parking pass. We had direct to room each time.

I would say there is no longer any mandate to display one, if there ever was one in the past to begin with.

I still drop by and get a parking pass for when we visit the parks. I just show it in the window and they wave me through. I like not having to stop and do the magic band.

anyone aware if you are able to resort hop with your own car? I know if you have a dining reservation you obviously get let in to other resorts other than where you are staying, but what if I spontaneously want to visit a bar/lounge?

It's typically not a problem except at select resorts during busy times. As an example, it's not unusual for the Polynesian Village to restrict parking to those staying at the hotel, with dining reservations or willing to use valet.
