Parking Question?

So we are travelling with friends in April and we are staying at a WDW resort. Our friends are staying off site.

Since we receive a parking pass and will not be renting a car could we let our friends use the pass to either park at the resort or travel with us to the parks? If by chance we have decided to do our own thing and they want to meet us at the hotel or parks could they still use it without one of us in the car?

Thanks for your help!

Most resorts ask for your world key to get into the lot unless you say you are going to eat or visit. I don't know if the desk will even give you the parking paper if you don't say you have a car. Once you have the paper, you put it on the dash and they simply check the dates at the parks. I don't know if everyone gets one in their packet or not. We always drive, so we always have one in the packet.
Maybe someone who doesn't drive will know.

@ratherbeinwdw Thank you for your answer. I know when we have gone before they have automatically included a parking pass, so they may still do that. Sounds like we might have to be with them to get into the resorts but not the Parks.

Thanks MasterYoda. It might make things easier if they could just meet us at our hotel and we all travel together either on the bus or to the parking lot.

You will not. All they need to do is show ID at the guard shack and let them know they are picking someone up and they will let them through.

It Can. Driving tends to be easier everywhere save for MK. The buses are a little better when going to MK.

Once you have your parking pass you can always "have breakfast, lunch or dinner" at the Contemporary (if you get my usage of having dinner) and MK is a nice 5 minute walk down the paved path...just don't say it's Chef Mickey's for lunch (I learned the hard way they don't have a lunch but he still let me in)...just need to have that parking pass...

Every time I've checked in they've had a parking pass printed. I don't generally drive so I refuse it, but I have taken it to use in a friend/visitor's car without any problem.

I had a car every time I visited Disney, before and after living in Orlando.

I never, ever used the little paper they give you at check-in. I shoved it in the glove box and that was that. I use my AP or room key at the toll booths. When I stayed in hotels, I used the room key to go in and out. Now, I just say I'm visiting and drive on in.

You don't actually need the little piece of paper. And you can always get two, if you want...like, if you told them you had two cars or you lost the first one.

Just wanted to note that they do sometimes forget to give you the pass. We stayed at YC back in November and had some issues b/c they neglected to give us the pass and I was so tired from driving straight through that it didn't occur to me that it could be an issue until we were trying to get back in after driving to DTD for dinner. It was easily rememdied after the guard checked everything and found that we were in fact staying there, but just wanted to bring it up since you definitely should check to make sure it's in there when checking in. It usually is, but considering our most recent experience- they sometimes forget the parking pass.

They can park at the resort by just telling the guard at the gate they are visiting someone at the resort for the day. They can also ride the resort bus's with you. When you check in just tell them you may be renting a car and get a pass. Anyone can then use the pass. You do not need to be with them.
