Parking on the grass?

i went to Epcot yesterday and saw that they we're having people park on the grass up front. It was on both grassy areas at the front of both parking lots. The regular parking lots were not close to full, and a few rows were only one car wide. Was there a special event that has people parking on the grass? I've never seen that before and was really confused

Noticed that ourselves the other week, seemed very odd as loads of parking spaces in the lot. They also had a mobile light unit there which made me think it wasn't for normal guests, however couldn't figure out what it was all about.

This seems to have been going on for at least a few months. What makes it even more peculiar is that it seems to be an area being used as disabled parking. Bad show and not very courteous to those with mobility issues.

Is it definitely being used by guests? I have dystonia so use the disabled parking at the parks and yes, it in front of that area. However when we parked we saw no signs or instructions to park on the grass if there's no space. Seems a strange thing to do if it is an extension for disabled parking unless the disabled population is growing rapidly, why suddenly start doing it after so many decades? If that's what it's being used as then surely they should paint new wider lines on the area just behind the current one rather than have folk park on the grass?

I've seen this happen a few times. Just as the busses arrive by the bus lot area to the right a bunch of cars would be parked there and the parking lot would hardly be full...

Could this be for CM's? There have been a bunch of permits recently for re-paving of the back stage access road.
That's what I thought too, but everyone we saw getting out of the cars seemed to be park guests. They had a sign for CM's to go to one of the other lots (imagination?).

Someone in another thread mentioned that part of the parking lot is being used for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon this weekend.

Parking up on that grassy area near the entrance as well as occasionally on the side of the entrance road after parking tolls has been happening for many years now during peak days.
