My family will be checking in tomorrow at Saratoga Springs. We are headed to HS on Saturday and I was wondering what the parking situation has been like this past week there. We have a rental car so we are planning to park. I'm looking for when the parking is actually opening up and how the crowds have been going through security etc. Thanks!

parking lots have usually been opening 1hr to 45 mins before park open.

If you plan to arrive before park open, you need to schedule your arrival about an hour beforehand. If you arrive earlier than that you may be turned around and will have to circle all the way around HS before returning (right on Osceola Pkwy, right on World Drive, right on Buena Vista Drive, right on Victory Way, right into entrance). Also, with limited capacity (unofficially now reported as 40%), you car should still be directed somewhat close to the park. When I was there in October, they weren't running trams. Don't know if that is still the case.

Regarding security, you won't have to open up your bags first to be checked immediately. You'll be directed through a scanner first. If the scanner picks up anything, you'll be directed to a table for a guard to look through your bag. The process happens pretty quickly.
