Parking at Contemporary

What prevents any Magic Kingdom guest from parking at the Contemporary Resort parking lot (for free)?

I had to go to the Contemporary recently, which is rare. It was then that I realized anyone could take advantage of the little parking space that's available there. This would obviously hurt those who are actual guests of the hotel, as the parking area is limited in size.

As for the security guard and gate, well, it obviously quite easy to have a valid reason to need to visit the premisis.

There are also those who pull up to the parking toll say "which way to the contemporary?" and then continue to park in MK parking (having not paid the rediculous parking fee.) But that's another issue.

I think the backside view of Space Mountain is pretty neat (just a little ways down the same road.)

The RIDiculous parking fee? Is an extra $5 a day really that much of a burden? If so, I might wait an extra week so I could save up for the parking fees.

I would think you don't need a resort ID to get there in order to eat at a resturaunt, do you? That doesn't sound right. Regardless, parking in the Contemporary to get a freebie is RUDE. Think about other people that paid to stay there or are actually there for a valid reason.

Nothing annoys me more than when people think they are the only ones in the world and the only ones that matter.

Well, sometimes...

I often park at the Contemporary if when I am staying elsewhere on property, but usually this is because: (1) I like to eat breakfast there, and maybe want to return there after MK or EPCOT for an evening stroll or view, and (2) I am already paying for Disney property. I do not see this as rude, especially if I am visiting and spending money at the Contemporary, and since I am a resort guest anyway. Usually there is plenty of parking, especially in the lot to the right of the entrance road.

Often I like to eat breakfast or go boating before going to the parks, and I will set that up on a day that I am visiting one of the monorail parks. The boating alone is $20 per half hour.

I do similar things at the Boardwalk, leading to EPCOT after a morning at the Boardwalk, or vice-versa.

I think that part of the fun of WDW is visiting all the different resorts while you are there....

Other parking, by the way, is free to resort guests with ID.

Most of the Disney lots resort lots, don't have much parking.

Most of them would never be able to acomodate all of their guest if a large enough percentage of their guest drove their own cars.

It isn't as bad if you are staying on property since your parking fees are included in your room price. I think the problem is the offsite guests who do this.

The fact that you need a resort ID card to get past the security card at the entrance to Cont. prevents that from happennig.

Actually, you need one to enter the private guest area, where you park yourself your car. If not, you can go and leave it to valet parking and go and do what you want: Dine, arcades, goof around or whatever you feel life.
