Park Tours?

Hello all, hope this is the right place to post this. My dad and I are going to WDW in December and we were looking to do a tour for the first time. While the full day tour looks amazing, we were hoping to pay less than 250$ a person. Keep in mind he is an electrical engineer and I'm a chemical engineer, so we're both really interested in the "technical" aspect of how things work opposed to learning random facts while walking about the park.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions or recommendations on what would be the best tour choice for us. Thank you!

Fellow engineer here (structural) I would recommended either the Keys to the Kingdom, Undiscovered future world or possibly the the Magic Behind Our Steam Trains. Most of the tours only really graze by the technical aspects of the parks but the three I mentioned have enough to keep my inner tech geek happy. Of the three I mention Keys to the Kingdom would be my first choice.

Here is a link that will give you pricing and descriptions of all of the back stage tours that Disney offers.

I really liked the full day tour I believe it is called BAckstage Magic. We started at Epcot and went backstage at the American Adventure and they showed us how it all worked. We also visited the warehouses behind MK where they showed us all about the animatronics. I think this tour is more "technical" than the Keys to the Kingdom tour IMO, but it is good too.

Nature Inspired Design Segway Tour at Epcot is good tour. 3 hours, $124. Firstly you get to play with the Segway X2's. It is mostly backstage after the Segway training that all Disney Segway tours have. First backstage to Soarin for a quick flight, then over to the greenhouses to see what they are doing at the moment (whilst watching other guests pass by on the Living with the Land boats). Then to the Seas with Nemo and friends, to see the control room, emergency water dump lagoon and such things. Its interesting, backstage and on a Segway, whats not to like!

Have done all 3 segway tours and found the tour which starts at Ft. Wilderness to be the best - especially when you get a nice long tour along Bay Lake, around the Wilderness Lodge, etc. It uses the X2 segways as does the Epcot backstage tour - but it is not technical in anyway.
