Park Tickets without a Resort Package

We've been invited on a Mother/Daughter trip in January. Our hosts are taking care of accommodations and have booked off-site. We just have to purchase our park tickets. Is it just standard head online and book a la carte through Disney? Or any chance we could take advantage of some type of ticket only special or discount that may be out there? I've always booked full package, never just tickets.

Also - any chance Christmas decorations will still be up 1/3/18-1/7/18?

Thanks in advance!

Tickets should not be a problem and decorations will definitely still be up

It was explained to me that decoration should stay up until the weekend following New Year, essentially for the races that take place then. They'll come down after that.

So if NY is on a Thursday they'll start coming down in 3 or 4 days. You'll be good though!

There are several ticket brokers out there that you can purchase tickets from that should save you some money rather than buying through Disney. Undercover Tourist just to name one. You can then just link your tickets to your MDE account if needed.

If you’ve been before and have Magicbands, linking your tickets to your old MB is easy.

Undercover Tourist or Maple Leaf tickets are reputable resellers and you’ll save a little. The tickets you get from them can be linked to existing MB.

If you’re planning on going back within a year, it might be worthwhile getting discounted tickets and then after you’ve entertained a park once, upgrade to APs. If you upgrade before one use, you lose the discount amount, after using the tickets once they give credit for the current gate price you would have paid for the equivalent ticket.

We've done this frequently and is a great way to save on an AP. Also if you signup for the monthly mousesavers.com newsletter you can save a little more on tix from Undercover Tourist. We've used them many times and have never had a problem.
