If I upgrade my park tickets to AP, can I use it right away and enjoy the benefits? Also, where is the best place to do this upgrade?

Depends on which upgrade and when you plan on going. For example, if you were planning on a mid to late December trip and wanted to upgrade to the Silver Pass, you couldn't use it because those dates are blocked out. Right now, August 9, you can upgrade to any AP and start using it immediately. You can upgrade at any Guest Relations outside a park or in Disney Springs.

You can upgrade them at any ticket counter or guest services. I always do it at the International Gateway if possible. Never at MK and I avoid it at the front of Epcot. Disney springs and the other two parks aren't bad.

Your upgraded AP can be used immediately and you get the perks immediately (provided it isn't a black out time). Just keep in mind the AP expiration should be the first day of use of your tickets, not the day they do it.

I was able to upgrade at the front desk at POFQ this past February. Other members here have since said that being able to upgrade at a hotels FD might be hit or miss. I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask and got lucky;)

One thing to remember is that when you are upgrading your tickets, there are some quirks about the value of the tickets you are trading in.

If you have BOUGHT your tickets from an authorized reseller (Tickets at Work, Undercover Tickets, Orlando Fun Tickets, etc) at a discount, if you try to upgrade them before you use them, you will be credited with the price that you paid. IF, however, you use them (not use them up, but use them to enter a park) and then upgrade them, you will be credited with the full retail value of the ticket.

For example, I often get 5 Day Hoppers for the price of a 3 Day Hopper (Tickets At Work seems to always have this promo). If I upgrade it before i use it to enter a park, I get credit for the price of a 3 Day Hopper, however if use the ticket to enter a park, then turn around and upgrade it to an AP, I get credit for the price of a 5 Day Hopper

Also, if you see any one day tickets at any sort of fundraiser, be aware that they have a $0 value. Disney regulary gives away a package of 4, 1-day passes for free to charities who are trying to raise money. The groups can then auction them off, use them in a tricky tray, have them as a raffle prize, or whatever else they want to do in order to raise money - its a nice thing WDW does. However, it specifically states on the passes that since WDW gave them away, they have a value of $0. Some people buy them at fundraises, thinking they can pay $200 for a 4 pack of 1 day passes ($50 each) and then upgrade them at the parks and come out ahead. Nope, it does not work that way, they are worth $0

I upgraded my 5 day park hopper to platinum AP on our second day at guest relations at HS. It was really quick and easy. Feels so good to finally be a passholder!

This is extremely good info! We usually buy our tickets from undercovertourist with the intention of upgrading to an AP. We buy the tickets online, go to a park and enter it and then go upgrade the pass. The only time we ever had an issue was in 2016. We bought park hoppers before the price change. When we went to upgrade we had to pay the difference between the old tickets and the new park hoppers and then the APs. Also the APs go in effect from the day you used your first type of tickets not the day you upgraded.

I’ve bought 5-Day tickets last weekend because I’ll be back in FL in 11 days :inlove:.
Now I’m thinking about going back next February and did the math: an upgrade to an AP would be totally worth it.
But now I’m wondering: what will happen to my FP reservations for this coming trip :bored:? Can they be transfered to the AP?

It shouldn't have any problem once it's switched your Fastpasses should be fine...
