Park Pass System

Hello, New member here, hoping someone may be able to help. We have a trip booked for 2 weeks at the end of August from the UK, staying at P. O French quarter (cant wait to visit again)!!!

I have a question i'm hoping someone may be be able to help with. We have been avid WDW visitors for years and spend the bulk of our time in the parks and also visit Universal, Seaworld, Busch Gardens etc. and have never normally pre-planned anything, obviously this will have to change for this trip due to the park pass system. My question is, are there any penalties if I book a pass and then don't use? I am thinking to book a pass for each day at Disney so we can potentially visit in the evening if only at say Seaworld until mid to late afternoon, however if plans change on the day and we decide not to use the pre booked pass, I don't want to prevent another guest from visiting but at the same time don't want to miss out ourselves by not booking in advance.

Thank you all in advance! :)

@wdwmagic or @The Mom Please move this to trip planning
As of now there is no penalty for missing park reservations. If you want to go to a second Disney park than the one you have a reservation for you must enter your "reserved" park first and then enter the 2nd park after 2pm

Sounds like a great trip! How many days are on your ticket? There is no penalty for switching parks before you enter (if available) or for not showing up.

Say you had a 10 day ticket for your 2 week stay, it would work like this:
It’d expire 14 days after the selected start date
You could book any 10 days across that 14 day window.
Say you booked parks for the first 10 days, and didn’t show up on day 3. You could use that credit to book one of the open days at the end of your trip (subject to availability).
Say you had HS booked with plans to hop to Epcot. That day you realize you just want to keep your Epcot plans and not got to HS prior. If there’s still availability at Epcot, you could just switch your park. If there’s no availability left for an Epcot park reservation, then you’d need to check-in to HS (your reserved park) before going over to Epcot.

Hope this helps. It is a bit confusing at first.

It's a UK ticket so they can book 14 days

Thank you for the reply, we have 14 day ultimate ticket and also have 14 day orlando flexi ticket to be able to 'come and go as we please at all the parks'. I understand how the park hopper works now after 2pm, I was just concerned that if i booked say Epcot for a day that i knew we were visiting universal with the idea that universal closes at 6, we could go over to Epcot for the remainder of the evening. As we don't know when the parks close at the moment, i just didn't want a penalty if we ended up not using the reservation at all.

I assume then that if i book HS but that closes at 8pm and Epcot say 10pm but no availability at Epcot, i could just go into HS then leave straight away and hop on the boat to Epcot? Its a very strange system if that's the case lol! 1🤣

Hopping has been closed very few days (holidays, 50th anniversary) so there shouldn't be any issues hopping during your stay
