Park hours in late August

I'm going to be in Orlando for the last 3 weeks of August so I checked out the park hours for the parks and was shocked to see how early they would be closing. I was there last year for the last week of August and everyday MK closed at 10 or 11, and MGM at 9 or 10. However, this year the parks are scheduled to close much earlier on certain days, including MK closing at even 7 on some days. I just wanted to know if these hours would probably be changed or not as the time draws nearer. I would hate to have to leave the MK and MGM earlier than usual, as I love them at night. The 7:00pm closings in August are probably the nights they are doing Pirate & Princess Parties. The park closes at 7:00 and then the party officially starts at 7:30. Hope this helps. We will be there August 14th -24th. :wave:

Yes the early closings are usually on the party nights. There are many Pirate and Princess parties in August so the park closes at 7PM those nights. When I was a kid the parks were always open late until after Labor day but now it seems July is the only summer month with real late hours. I will be there in September and its even worse then . Even Walt Disney said his favorite time in the parks was at night. I guess with cost of cast members it makes it harder to keep them open later . Also I know the calendar is tentative because many times last September the calender said 7PM and it was actually open until 9PM. The info on DisneyWorld.com is not the most up to date source. Give them a call as you get closer to going.
