park hopping without park hopper...

Hey all. I've been a lurker for quite some time, have been a reborn Disney lover since getting married couple years back...this is my first post (of I hope, many) here...I did try to search for this, but seemed to find nothing on the topics...so... please forgive me if this is a regular set of questions!

My entire extended family is going to Disney World Resort at the end of January, for three days of park fun. Three children and nine adults. We have our rooms booked through one family member on site, and are all getting our own park tickets. Being as we all want to be able to be semi together, we are all trying to find the most bang for our buck, like anyone else.
My uncle seems to think buying 5-6 single park tickets would be a better option for use than getting a three day park hopper...I Dont see how its possible Disney would allow you to just buy enough single park tickets to go to say, all the parks in one day, instead of getting a park hopper...am I wrong? Can I purchase TWO single park tickets and go to two parks in one day, even though that's what the park hopper pass is set up to do? He has talked to Disney personnel and says they told him its possible. I just want to know if they are driving sales, or is this truly a way to get to see multiple parks.
Also, I've been looking at undercover tourist for my mothers, my wife's, and my tickets. The website says that the tickets are *magic my way* tickets....is all the extra benefits of that ticket package available to me if I just book my park tickets through that site and not my rooms?
And last (but not least....to me) will I be able to get the arm bands I saw so much of when my wife were there the day after Thanksgiving?!

Thank you for your patience with a new poster....I'm very excited and a bit nervous to be posting on this board! I look forward to your educating replies!

Sounds like you are going to have to do some serious planning for what will be done if a single park per day will meet your needs. Plan wisely. i'd still go park hopper just because there is less stress and the ease to visit other parks.

You are really going to have to do some planning to get all the parks in during a three day period. We did it in Nov., but even with us being "expert" hoppers, we really felt very rushed. Our biggest mistake was making adr's. Having to be at a certain park at a certain time caused so much unnecessary travel and wasted so much precious time. If it had only been my family, it wouldn't have been a problem, but having people with us who will probably not be able to go again for many years, made it hard. We had to be really picky about which rides to ride and make sure they saw as much as possible. Having fp+ was a life saver. We did get in everything they wanted to do. However, if we had been with a family who wanted to do more rides, then we wouldn't have been able to do lots of things. They had a great time and said many times they never would have been able to do 1/4 what they were able to do without us doing the planning for them. They also wouldn't have done so many of the shows. They thought they were for the "kids". They enjoyed them so much.

An additional option if you're not sure if you'll be park-hopping: Buy base-tickets now, and add the Park Hopper option if/when you decide you need it.
If you decide you need it, it'll cost you the same as if you'd paid for it up-front and it only takes a few minutes at Guest Relations to add it. If you don't need it, you've saved the money.

As for some of the other questions the OP raised:
If you're staying on-site at a Disney resort, yes, you'll get MagicBands. You should set up a profile on the MyDisneyExperience website now and link yourself as "friends/family" to the person who booked the hotel reservation. That way you can be assigned to that reservation and get your Band.

You'll also be able to link your park ticket to your profile so that your Band will point to the ticket, and you'll gain access to the FastPass+ system.

You can buy two different tickets and use them in two different parks. It would cost you roughly $200 to do that. But a one day hopper would be about $160, so the hopper is obviously the cheaper option.

What you cannot do is buy, say, one six day ticket and use it to enter more than one park a day. Even if you were only going to be there for four days and figured you could use the extra two admissions to attend two different parks on two of those days - NOPE. You cannot.

If you want to go to more than one park a day, the hopper is the cheapest way to do it.
