Park Hopper Question

So I called to add the Hopper option to our existing tickets. Only wanted them for one day, but was informed they can't do a single day on a 3-day package.

Ended up paying an extra $320 to put Hoppers on all 3 days.

My question is "why?" I wonder why a customer can't just chose to Hop on ONE day?

Any ideas?

It’s always been the same. You have to add them to the length of your tickets. I guess because it’s one multi-day ticket. Makes them more money that way.

The same would apply even if you decided you wanted to hop on the last day of your 3-day package; you’d still pay the same price as if you did so on the first day.

Many companies have deals that have restrictions tied to number of days. Disneys maximizing their packages. Its the same when we go for 2 weeks... I can book a resort for 14 days but can only buy park tickets for 10 days and not 14 days. I have to then add on another 4 days of separate tickets.

Just thinking out loud here...

Theoretically, could someone buy a 2-package without Hoppers, then buy a 1 day ticket with the Hopper? Wonder if it would work because your room would be for X amount of nights, so Disney could say no. Maybe?

May not even be cheaper, since it's outside of a "package".

Like I said, just thinking out loud.

Thanks for your responses.

While you could do that, it would be slightly more expensive. As an example. Purchase a 2 day ticket without park hopper, then a 1 day with park hopper starting on Oct 7th. Cost is $542.21. Purchase the 3 day with park hopper for the same dates and it is $525.94. And you avoid the hassle of having 2 separate tickets to keep track of.
