Park Closing Information (Phases)

I am arriving to Disney on January 1st (New Years Day). It seems that it may be VERY CROWDED still. I was wondering if there was a number I could call when I get to Orlando to check the status of the Magic Kingdom still being open? I know they have closing phases but I do not want to get my hopes high and drive to the MK and get turned away. I plan on arriving there at 5pm on the 1st.

We've always found getting to a park on Jan. 1 is a good day to go. Lots of people are up too late the night before and just can't make it to the parks. Add on the football games to the picture and it cuts down on the locals coming out in huge numbers.

We probably will opt for SW this year, though since we haven't been over to see Christmas there this year. In the past even at Busch Gardens they tend to do a repeat of the NYE fireworks on New Years Day and you don't have to deal with the crazies of NYE.
