Park choices for the different "Celebrations"

Now I have heard that the reason the different Celebrations are where they are is because of attendence. But if you think about it, the choices do seem to fit:

WDW 30 - MK: That was the only park open then.

Millennium - EPCOT: It has all the future theme and then the countires.

100 Years - MGM: Disney was a movie maker. What better place then a movie park?

Okay can I disbute the last one? *wonders if everyone has heard her rant about the studios but oh well*

The Studios was NOT a "Walt" park.. I say have it at DL or Epcot or MK or even AK since that was his original idea for the jungle cruise and Walt loved nature but NOT at the studios. Yes Walt was a pioneer in the movie industry BUT he wasn't in it to make money, he was in it to make people smile. I mean look at the risks he took on Snow White and on Disneyland. He didn't have the money and luckily they turned out to be huge successes. I say they should have let the celebration be at the park he put his heart and soul into, DL...

*steps down from her soap box and hides before she gets ambushed by people lol*

Sure, but my point was: Movie Maker = Movie Park

K...Angelique and I were discussing this at length last night on AOL IM and I thought I'd add my justifications for picking MGM. Firstly, I'll say that, from a purist/historical perspective (That's most of us here) the 100 Yrs. celebration probably belongs in DL. Walt wasn't there to see over the opening of WDW at all...Let alone MGM. But...Speaking from a corporate view (I'm a business major so while I migh not agree with the business moves I appreciate the savvy they have for turning the most profit) MGM is the most logical spot. Let's go through the possibilities...

Tokyo DL and DL Paris...Just wouldn't happen and I think we'd all argee on that.

DL/DCA...True...It IS the first park but there are only two gates and 2-3 Disney-owned resorts to keep those people in plus DL gets their anniversary celebrations every five years and DCA is so new that people are still going out of the sheer novelty of it.

WDW...(Park by park)

MK...After the Castle/Cake travesty what would they have done? Turned the top spire into the Sorcerer hat? Plus, like DL, it is the center of every anniversary celebration.

Epcot...JUST got off the Y2K afterglow. Still feeling the positive effects of its refurbishment.

DAK...Like DCA it still has its novelty plus there just isn't enough to do there to warrent such a big celebration.

MGM...Been the neglected park since DAK opened even though it got some terrific attractions (R'n'RC, ToT, & Fantasmic!)...It's the most centrally located of all the parks in the resort (two seperate parking lot gates) as well as being closest to the most resorts (Y&BC, S&D, Boardwalk, CB, CS)...Financially...It's the smartest place to turn to (tradition aside)

Has anyone else noticed that in all the 100 yr celebration adds and merchandice they don't mention Walt Disney. There is one very nice commercial about Walt but other than that it just says 100 yr celebration everywhere. The only merchandice that has Walt's picture on it are the pins for us Disney freaks which I'm happy they did, but there is a lack of Walt in this celebration.
