does anyone remember which day time parade was at the MK during your first WDW visit?
mine was the Surprise parade, which the MK has never out done to this day, in my opinion...well, that i know of. i still have to see the 100th celebration one. does anyone remember this parade? i think it was for the 20th anniversary. i still love it so much! the music was so awesome! and i've always loved how they used huge balloons on the floats, and how it all had a mardi gras feel! that parade will forever be a classic in my book!
next came the fairly short lived Mickey Mania parade...which was just SO much fun! it was sort of hip and edgy and the music was so easy to groove to! i remember seeing all the people in the parade on bikes and skates and skateboards...i remember thinking to myself how much fun it would be to ride a bike around MK during the parade and actually get paid for it! and i always loved the big Mickey Mouse ears and gloves walking around! that had to be the coolest parade ever! not really my all time fave, but still really cool!
and of course came the remember the magic parade, which has to be my least fave of the three day time MK parades i've seen.
so what are your memories of the day time MK parades?

The day parades are way hyped up, I try to catch the new ones, since they are new after all. but I don't wait an hour on the curb side just to see them! I find a place where I can see them, but not too up close, if I am around. otherwise, I am riding the rides while everyone else is watchin!

yup! same here! i think the Surprise parade is the only one that i actually stood and watched the whole thing more than once. but i only saw it from a distance. usually we'd sit in the rocking chairs on the porch off of hall of presidents. but i think once we watched it from the top of the railroad station on main street.

btw, all_good_chic, you are thinking of the right parade...there was a Roger Rabbit float feat. a huge balloon of him as a jack-in-the-box, all decked out in mardi gras style clothing, including a jester's hat!

I have only seen two parades so far. The Remember the Magic and Share a Dream Come True. I personally think Share a Dream Come True is way better than the Remember the Magic parade. I think the Remember the Magic parade sucked big time. I worked at the Magic Kingdom twice and saw the parade once the entire time i was there. I didn't like it at all. The music gets kinda annoying after a while. :hammer:

Share a dream come true is way better and i like the music and the floats. I love the villians float the best. I want that snowglobe for my collection. i did see pictures from the older parades and they all looked good to me. wish i could have seen them though.

Maybe going a little off key to the post here but at the MK, I liked the 100 year parade with the waterglobe theme...that was pretty cool...I think I liked it more b/c they picked my son to come out and dance with them.

Other than my son who was sleeping on my lap, my husband and I really enjoyed the Jammin' Jungle parade at AK. The music was just so awesome...wonder if they sell the soundtrack to that! It reminded me of Tarzan and we have to listen to that as soon as we get in the car to go anywhere. Yeah, believe it or not, we sat on a bench in front of one of the giftshops with my son laying on my lap and the parade went right by...we were like 3 feet from the street so it was loud but he slept right through it! Guess I have Disney to thank for tiring him out!

We'll definitely be watching those two again in 3 weeks. Unfortunately, and I know I am going to get some comments from this, I couldn't get into the Tapestry of Nations parade at Epcot. My son liked the Car parade at MGM Studios as well...lots of shots of tires since he was taking the pictures!

Just my thoughts, don't bash me too bad please!

3 weeks seem like forever!
OKW, get my room ready!

The first daytime parade I remember was the America on Parade bicentennial salute. That was a huge production staged at both WDW and DL from 1975 through 1976. It was a long parade too, with at least 20 floats. As far as my choice for favorite daytime parade, that honor would go to the Mickey Mania Parade. It was a fun parade with a great beat. I loved the walking Mickey punching bag balloon things. they reminded me of bowling pins. As far as the latest productions go, I think they're fine, but I'm growing tired of the stops they make to involve the kids. Don't get me wrong, I've got kids, ages 9 and 12, and they don't like the stops either. Having a bunch of children knock each other down to play ring around the rosie with a dancer doesn't cut it anymore. Time to think of a new gimmick. Hey, how about more floats instead?

My 1st parade was "Remember the Magic" parade, for the 25th Anniversary, back in 1996. It was the very first time my family and I went to Disney. It is the memorable to me. Now we go every year.:sohappy:

I don't remember what my first parade was. I remember when I was five something about a giant hen house with singing hens in it. Anyone remember that one? I also remember the Mardi Gras themed one. I didn't get to see the Remember the Magic one though I really wanted to. We were never in the right place at the right time.

well, the only one that i know of to have a hen house with singing hens would be the Easter Parade....but i guess it depends on what time of the year you were there to have seen the parade that you saw. i've seen the Easter Parade only once (in person) and i liked it pretty good! but MK was SOOO packed that day (Easter Sunday) i don't think i've ever seen the parks so crowded while i've been there...but once the parade was over, tons of people almost literally flocked out the gates! but even after that, it was still pretty crowded.
btw, to be honest, in my humble opinion, you didn't miss much in the Remember the Magic parade...it was ok, but as other people have said, the music got a little annoying after a while. especially since it was the SAME thing repeated over and over the whole parade.
and i agree with steve2wdw...i'm not fond of the whole stop to let kids play idea either. i mean, it's kinda neat since it gets the kids involved, but, i dunno....i think it's just a heartbreak waiting to happen for the kids who want to be a part of it, but don't get picked. the only time i stopped to watch RtM, i got picked to be in the Aladdin part. personally, i didn't like it...i hated getting up in front of all those people, feeling like everyone was watching me. in the Aladdin part you had to do whatever Genie told you to do...so if he told you to jump up and down, jump in a big circle on one foot, go buy Disney merchandise, run around the whole park within 5 minutes, bow down to Eisner, etc, you had to do it. (ok, so i made up the last 3...just examples ;) ) i really wanted to do the Lion King part though! i wanted to play with those cool musical instruments...i think that's what you got to do, anyway. anybody know what kids got to do at the other floats?
