Parade of Dreams Is No More

So incase you dont want to read the whole thread heres a short summary.

Word has it that about 2 weeks ago DL started destoying Parade of Dreams, starting with the "Gateway to Dreams" the opening float.

The puppets, AAs and other decorative pieces were packed up.

All but 2 floats were destroyed. The 2 floats would later be refurbished and then added to A Christmas Fantasy next year.

Celebrate! a Street Party will be back next year.

Although Im very sad to see Parade of Dreams go. I do like the idea that 2 floats may be added to A Christmas Fantasy. I can probably see "Dreams of Laughter" the Pinnocchio float being refurbished and used as part of the Toy land unit (which is the section that also got a new float last year) the one from POD might make a nice opener for that section.

Very sad news indeed.. A really beautiful parade all around - loved the detail on the floats, the music, and the show stop was actually quite fun. Not a big fan of the Celebrate Street Party.. and I echo the sentiments of the MiceChatters who feel Entertainment at DL is suffering. The Fantasyland Theatre desperately needs a new show (get rid of the Princess Faire already :fork and a real parade to succeed PoD. I hope and pray we get the Worlds of Wonder parade!

I loved PoD. I had a feeling it was never going to come back, but this is still sad.

yeah, I think that's weird too. I remember a few years ago when it was reported they were destroying the Eureka Parade floats. Someone up on the Sun Wheel watched as they destroyed and literally smashed parts of the floats to pieces :brick:

If PoD wasn't coming back the least they could do was recycle the floats for another park.. Why not send the parade to the MK?

even though I slightly prefer Pixar Play Parade (fun and upbeat, love the floats) I will miss PoD.

While I think that would have been a good idea, Block Party is enough. On the flip side for us if they do add some of POD's old floats to ACF it will be a welcome site to see IMO. But overall it did have a nice run but I think it performed just the right amount of years, unlike a certain other set of parade floats (look at MK's parade)

Speaking of which anyone know if there adding any new floats to ACF this year? last year was the massive Toy Factory, one and the year before were the blocks, and year before that was the new Santa finale float.

I read that theres actually 2 and a half floats from POD that were not destroyed, so a half more than I posted above. One of the floats not destroyed was the castle float. Also read that the Blue Fairy float from DEP was also destroyed.

^Aren't the 2 1/2 floats that didn't get destroyed going to ACF? Maybe the princesses are going to be on the castle float? What they have now is rather small.

Thats what I was thinking, but it will probably be cut down in size(in terms of height so it fits under the garlands). I agree about the current one being way to small for them. They seem so squashed.

Some more proof that Parade of Dreams is done for

Theres a Disney parade thats traveling in Brazil(not sure where else its headed) that some costumes from Parade of Dreams.

:26- in this version of the Beauty and the Beast unit you can see the fork, spoon, knifes, the feather duster and salt and pepper shakers from POD

1:25- Flotsam and Jetsam, as well as the Little Mermaid "Vegas girls" costumes

5:14- a few possible ones from POD's Lion King unit

At least some parts of the parade still lives on, I'v heard that other float that wasn't destroyed was the Beauty and the Beast one.

If true that would be the Beauty and the Beast float and the castle float still living on kinda at DL. Hopefully they are added to ACF since 2009 the only new thing added were the Pooh sleds, good addition but compared to 08 new toy factory, 07's new toy blocks, and 06's new Santa float they were kinda small additions.
