Painting Space Mountain Extirior...

Saw a couple of guys touching up paint on Space tonight. Anyone know the last time the exterior was completely re-painted? It doesn't look like it's been any time recently.

Apparently I can't edit the title or I would fix the auto correct.

That is actually connected with the Walt Disney World Railroad refurbishment. They were doing a lot of various track work and the "bridge" over the Space Mountain queue (which is where the men are) was one area that got attention.

Yes, going back to look at it, you can tell what they're painting isn't connected to Space, but made to blend in. But Space does need a good pressure wash/paint job.

One thing I miss was it being lit up at night. Back in the 1970s-1980s they had floodlights on it and it was very bright. You'd definitely notice it as you approached from the ferry or monorail. Now, I'm not sure if they have any lights on it as it really doesn't light up in the night sky. If they do have lights on it then they are very dim.

It'd be cool if they used the same LED lights that they use on the castle to light it up except reserving the change of colors to something theme-appropriate like Orange and Yellow alternating for Halloween or Green, White, and Red for Christmas or Red, White, and Blue for July 4th.

Another thing I miss is the castle being lit up with just white lights. I think the LEDs are great for both energy savings and because they can add to color to the various shows. I really wish that they'd just leave it white when a show isn't happening. The "Demo Mode" makes no sense. Why is the castle constantly changing colors? I don't get it.
