Does anyone know if Disney hires their own painters (construction) or if they are part of another company (sub-contractors)?
My husband is a painter and we have often joked and dreamed about moving down and being employed by Disney.

they do not hire outside teh company, I have talked with an Inagineer when I worked there in 07, and he told me that Disney has every part of the park covered in jobs, they paint, build and wor on everything. There is a Disney employee for everything you see.

But you do get alot of third party contractors aswell, prime example I was in Fantasia Gardens (mini golf) a while back and there were third party contractors there repainting a section and fixing some of the effects. They even had their own little billboard up with their name on whilst they were working.

nah, there's plenty of third-party contractors that Disney works with (unless he was talking about strictly the maintenance aspect, in which I have no idea) Disney's Magical Express is third-party and the people who do tramps and power-skips in BPB are third-party- I know there's plenty more, but I'm drawing a blank right now

Disney has several painters on staff. However, lots of the painting and general maintenance work is done by Buena Vista Construction Co. BVCC is somewhere between first and third-party in that the employees of BVCC don't actually work for the Walt Disney Co., but Disney owns BVCC (at least partially, I don't know the details).

Sorry, not exactly. Lots and lots of work is done through third-party contractors and "Operating Participants." There's an interesting backstage area where there are rows of trailers for the outside construction companies to use as headquarters while on-property. However, once it's built, most of the maintenance is done by Disney CMs.

Operating Participants are outside companies that do buisiness on Disney Property. Examples include Jeoffrey's Coffee (the stands around Epcot and DAK), Balzaac, many of the World Showcase restaurants and shops, and most of Downtown Disney: West Side.
