I just discovered that dining packages will be offered for Paint the Night starting tomorrow. I'm hoping some of our locals will chime in soon with info on where the preferred viewing locations are and how they effect traffic flow and standby viewing.

I think part of it depends on whether you do the Blue Bayou or grab and go at Aladdin's Oasis. For Blue Bayou the area is supposed to be near the statue of Walt and Mickey near the castle... Not sure about the Aladdin's spots, nor am I sure that all the Blue Bayou spots will be near the statue. When it comes to the dining packages they now offer for Fantasmic at DL the exact spot can vary and be anything from great to worse than if you were on your own with some people being stuck where they got a better view of a sign than the show.

I would also warn you that in our experience with other dining and viewing packages at DL you still have to show up early to get a good spot even if you are in an area that is considered good because it won't be a single viewing row and if you don't arrive early you will likely be stuck behind the people that did get there early... Not a problem if you are a tall or average size adult but kids will be looking at the backs of others rather than the shows at a lot of the viewing areas... I've seen it happen at Disneyland way to often.... worst offender out there tends to be the World of Color viewing.

You may be better off just staking a place out on your own on a curb than doing a package deal. I know when we do Disneyland we don't do any of the dining/viewing packages anymore because even Fantasmic has done away with seating so you are just paying for an area to stand in which doesn't ever seem to justify the cost they attach to the packages.

If you do want to go ahead and do it, then Blue Bayou is probably the best place in DL to eat.... but don't expect real cajun because the food is not that spicy - but still pretty good.
