Paint the Night 3.0 (my take)

Having seen dozens of videos of Paint the Night (from both California and Hong Kong), I was literally blown away by this parade! This very likely is Disney best light parade. If another, upgraded version of this parade were built, here's what I came up with for version 3.0 (1.0 is Hong Kong Disneyland's parade & 2.0 is for Disneyland in California):

1.) Opening unit: Tinker Bell flies in the front portion of the float, with her Disney Fairy friends dancing in front of the unit. Behind that is a drum float with Peter Pan sitting on top, linked by a Pixie Dust trail. Wendy stands on the Pixie Dust in the middle.

2.) Alice in Wonderland: starts with 3 spinners; blue-green turtle w/glasses, buzzing bee (or is it a firefly?), and snail. These spinners are followed by Alice riding on a lighted Cheshire Cat. The White Rabbit & the Mad Hatter dance in front of the Cheshire Cat float.

3.) Winnie the Pooh: very short float with Pooh in a honey tree, similar to the Dreamlights float. Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore stand around the tree.

4.) Monsters, Inc.: same as Paint the Night 1.0 & 2.0

5.) Cars: same as Paint the Night 1.0 & 2.0

6.) The Little Mermaid: same, but with the 2nd set of dancers behind the float replaced by the following:

7.) Finding Nemo: just a set of costumed walkers/dancers with lighted puppets of Nemo, Dory, Crush, etc., similar to the Finding Nemo show in Animal Kingdom

8.) Pinocchio: Pinocchio and Geppetto sit on a raft inside a lighted Monstro

9.) Dumbo: a shorter version of the MSEP unit. This starts with the circus calliope float with the lion playing, linked to a 3 ring float with Dumbo and clowns standing in these rings

10.) Toy Story: same as Paint the Night 1.0 & 2.0

11.) Aladdin: a giant lighted Genie with a Magic Carpet in front. Aladddin and Jasmine ride the carpet. A Whole New World plays, alternating with a few lines of Baroque Hoedown.

12.) Snow White: Dopey drives a Mine Train, with four cars. Snow White sits in the front car, followed by Doc and Happy in the back. A small pile of diamonds/gems is stacked behind the characters, like the pile of diamonds/gems behind Dopey. The train pulls a mine float with Bashful, Sleepy, Sneezy, and Grumpy digging/mining

13.) Beauty & the Beast: same as Paint the Night 1.0 & 2.0, except that Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) replaces Cinderella

14.) Cinderella: similar to the current Dreamlights float, with Cinderella wearing a giant lighted dress like Belle wears on her float. The Fairy Godmother stands on a castle tower, & Cinderella's dress changes color when she waves her wand. Her Prince stands behind the castle tower holding a lighted glass slipper.

15.) Pete's Dragon: similar to Main Street Electrical Parade and Dreamlights

16.) GRAND FINALE: similar to Paint the Night 2.0, but with only 1 set of walkers carrying these kite-like spinners (only 1st set used). Following the spinners is a series of whiryballs with (in order); Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Chip, Dale, Roger Rabbit, and Minnie. Following that is the final float with Sorcerer Mickey, which is the same as both versions of Paint the Night!

I watched NUMEROUS YouTube videos of Paint the Night, MSEP, SpectroMagic, and Dreamlights to calculate running time of floats passing by, parade gaps, and number of floats needed. Paint the Night has VERY long parade gaps and far fewer floats than the other light parades, but visually, it's mind-blowing! :D

After meticulously calculating everything, I came up with 29 floats and approximately 22 minutes in running time; roughly the length and number of floats as MSEP had during its 1985-96 heyday in Disneyland-- the Pinocchio units and Snow White Diamond Mine were sent to DL Paris after the run in Disneyland park ended in 1996, and did not return until 2008 or 2009. I hope everyone likes this parade, and if you have questions or comments, please feel free to post! :)

It looks great! You really need to see the parade in person to get the full effect, but truth be told, videos are also great and actually do it justice...it's still better seeing it in person. If I may make a few suggestions...my one issue with the parade currently is that there aren't too many dancers or transitions between the units. Also, the Frozen unit is gorgeous in person, that you have to see in person, I'd reconsider its inclusion.

1. I'd consider replacing Winnie the Pooh with a jungle unit themed to The Jungle Book/Lion King. While Pooh is great, jungle-y aspects are something that have not really been touched by past Electrical Parades. It'd be great seeing an electrical Kaa or a Simba with a glowing, color-changing mane. If you keep Pooh, I'd suggest adding the jungle unit.

2. Maybe add some light-up CDA officers or M.U. dancers to the Monsters, Inc. unit. Also, it'd be great to have Mater trailing Mac in the Cars unit. Recently at Disneyland, a small unit with the LGM's firing astro blasters was added to the Toy Story section.

3. You can always pull a Jubilation (the daytime parade from Tokyo) and combine Pinocchio and Dumbo into one unit, having a more cartoon-y Monstro combined with a Dumbo circus. It's a really spectacular float, I can only imagine how awesome it would be if electrified.

4. Peter Pan is one of the best parts of the original Main Street Electrical Parade. It'd be incredible if you had a ship following the opening unit or something like that.

I forgot to add the Frozen unit! Thanks for reminding me. I already had Frozen included in my timing of the parade's running length. Here is the actual parade float list:

Frozen alone made the parade seem much more full haha. Good job!

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! The Frozen unit was amazing, and I actually did include that when I timed the parade, just forgot to list it in my first post! :(

I decided to add a nice touch to my Dumbo unit. If you have seen MSEP before the 2009 refurbishment (when Dumbo was dropped), the front part of the Circus calliope unit has a hippo in front, perhaps to conceal the float driver. Well, I decided to add Casey Jr. train for this purpose, but a version that resembles the train in the movie more than the MSEP version that tugs the drum, with the name "Casey Jr." written on each side The float driver, possibly one of the clowns, would sit in the driver's seat (where Goofy sits in MSEP). The calliope with the lion playing would be attached to the back of the unit. A short portion of the train holding lighted pieces of coal would come in between the driver's seat and the circus calliope. As Casey Jr. arrives in the Dumbo section of the parade path, he toots "All aboard, let's go!" with fake smoke coming out the top. ;)

I also have one more revision to make. The Beauty and the Beast unit should be titled a Princess Unit instead, even though the main part of the unit is themed to Beauty and the Beast, since princesses from other movies appear in the tiny ballroom-like floats tugged by the main B&TB unit. In the first of these two ballroom-like cars, I will have Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) and Rapunzel in the back ballroom unit.
