My wonderful wife got me P90X2 for Christmas, so I thought I would give you guys my first impressions. I have previously completed a couple of rounds of P90X, and it is pretty clear from what i have seen so far, that unless you are in good shape already, you can't really get into P90X2 without doing something first.

I'm going to update this thread as I get to each new workout.

DAY 1 - X2CORE
This is the first workout, and as you guessed from the name, it is all about the core. The first thing that struck me about this new P90X2 is that it requires a lot of kit. 2 8lb medicine balls, 1 stability ball, pull up bar, weights, bands, plyo platform, yoga platform and foam roller. Some of this is optional, but if you are investing the time and effort to do this, you really need all the gear.

The warm up in this is noticeable different from the P90X warm ups. All the isolated stretches are gone, and are replaced with stretches involving the stability ball and you entire body. I was sweating just from the warm up. It's quite heavy going. The workout itself has a lot of variety, and the hour passes by pretty quickly. Because a lot of the moves were new to me, I had to do a fair about of watch and rewind to get the moves, but after a few tries I think they will be fine. It is amazing how much harder those balls make to something that looks quite trivial. By the end I was sweating to about the level I would be from a 10 mile run.

Even though there is a core workout in P90X, this is all new, and it is not just a rehash of the P90x version.

Up next is Plyocide - the evolution of P90X plyo! The name even scares me! LOL

DAY 2 - Plyocide

This is the X2 version of P90X Plyo (aka jump training). The warm up started out very much the same (if not exactly the same) as Day 1, lots of stability ball stretches. The workout involves lots of jumping, and balancing, and like day 1, it seemed to focus a lot on core strength. I would say that intensity-wise, it was very similar to the P90X edition of Plyo, but overall, I would say I prefer the X2 edition. More variation, and slightly less impact.

So far - so good on P90X2

DAY 3 - REST

DAY 4 - Total Body and AB Ripper X2

Total Body is a really interesting one It features a really wide variety of moves, hitting every body part. There is quite a focus on balance and co-ordination, something that I can definitely improve on, so I'm looking forward to see how this helps.

I was not looking forward to AB Ripper X2, but was pleasantly surprised. It was probably about as hard as the original ab ripper, but it was at a slower pace, and had more precise moves.

Thanks Steve. I'm looking forward to these reports.

I have done p90x, and am now in my 3rd Insanity cycle (I enjoy it's cardio aspect, lol) and am looking to get something new, next.

Either p90x2 or Asylum.

Good luck, keep up the hard work!!!
