Overnight monorail parking

Looking at the monorail shed, I noticed there are only 11 beams entering the building. If there are 12 monorails and various other maintenance vehicles, where do all the monorails park overnight? Does 1 park at the TTC or at the Contemporary?

From what I remember from another site I read one of the trains parts at the TCC each night and they rotate them out so its not always the same one at the TCC. Ive also heard they can park them at the contemporary and close the storm doors during hurricanes if they need too.

I think they can park 4 monorails in the Contemporary, but I'm not sure if that's just a tad too long to close the hurricane doors. You can definitely close them with only two in there.

A few years ago when my family and I were staying at the Contemporary I saw two Monorails parked there over night. One was on the Express side and the other was on the Resort side.

I believe you are correct. I don't think they park any in the contemporary.

I think there is only room for 10 in the roundhouse. The others are stored in the TTC and are rotated.

4 monorails can be parked in the Comtemporary and the doors will still be able to close.

This is correct. The shop has 11 beams but one is used for the work tractors.

Four monorails in the Contemporary is exceedingly rare but possible. They have to be parked mere inches apart to make it work.

10 in the roundhouse, one for the tow tractor. The other two get parked where ever they decide.

When they are expecting major storms the two extra's get parked in the contemporary.

The reason they do not have enough room is originally they never had 12 monorails until Epcot was built and they needed more.

As Scott mentioned, there is room for 10 trains in the maintenence building. Once and only once, monorail Yellow and monorail Red were parked nose to nose about 8 inches away from each other in the TTC. This picture is viewable on Scott's site.

What do you think will happen if they expand the monorail? Do you think they will build a new round house in a more central location? The expansion would call for more monorails!

There will be no expansion, and therefore no need to discuss it. But yes, they would build a new barn on the new lines.

WOW in the few months that I have been here I haven't see one yet! Why is there so much opposition against the expansion? besides the cost!

The cost is ridiculous, thats why it will never be done.

But I oppose it because the monorail (or any other fixed track system that is run in trains/cars/that type of thing) isn't the most efficient form of transport for WDW's traffic patterns.

Either they keep with a bus kind of system, where they can send out an extra wherever they need it, or they create a TTA type of system that runs continuously.

And now the craziness will start, so I won't post about it again.

There isn't that much of an opposition. Most of the posts about the expansion are positive. The only thing is that they are a bit numerous throughout the forums. Every week or so, 2 of them pop up and almost always result in an arguement.

As for the person who couldn't find the picture of the "kissing" monorails, it must have been removed when Scott updated his page not too long ago.
