overly analytical question about "liking" a post

Yes, it's true. I'm overly analytical.

That said, I was wondering whether there was a consensus of whether I should feel free to just "like" a post because it made me laugh. I guess I'm a little hung up because I kind of feel like a lot of people mostly "like" posts that they agree with. What if I disagree with a post but it was funny as heck?

Thanks for listening. :)

Sometimes I like a post just as an acknowledgement I've read a reply.

I'm not one for endless back-and-forth's. I state my opinion, somebody else state's himers in return, and then commonly that's that for me so I like it just to acknowledge that I've read the other person's thoughts on the subject.

Also, posts that make me laugh get a like as a thank you for the effort. =D

When I like a post it generally means I got some level of enjoyment out of reading it, in trip reports I sometimes do it in a attempt to encourage the completion of the trip report especially ones that don't seem to be getting many comments. If I read a post and didn't click the like button it doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it it could well be that I read it on my work computer which means I was lurking on the forum and not logged in.
