Overhead views of construction

There was a News item on this site (WDW Magic) regarding the Fountain of Nations demolition at EPCOT. A couple of the pics were pretty high up and the only way to get that shot I assume would be a drone. I would imagine drones are not permitted in the parks, so how does a privately owned web site get such amazing shots?

Many overhead shots are done by Bioreconstuct...He has a Twitter feed that has many updated photos as well.

  • The Do Not Fly zone centered on the MK (more like the canal between Fr. Wilderness and the MK) only extends part way into Epcot. Planes and helicopters can skirt that border and take telescopic photos of Epcot (and straight down on DHS).

  • The Do Not Fly zone is only 3,000 feet tall. Planes and choppers can fly over that and take telescopic photos (usually with an outside-mounted camera.

  • Permission to go into the Do Not Fly zone can be obtain by applying for it and giving details of your flight path. The FDA FAA isn't keen on Disney's DNF zones and has no issue giving permission.

There are a few companies that offer helicopter tours of the attractions area.
During our visit 2 weeks ago, it seemed as if we saw/heard a helicopter multiple times a day over the parks and resorts, which seemed to be alot more often than we had seen in previous visits. These have probably been around the Orlando area for quite a while-maybe they are becoming more popular in recent years?
