Outside Snack or Water Bottle in Park?

Does anyone know if you can bring a bottle of water and a
granola bar to the park in the morning? I did this in Oct. 2000
with no problem but I wondered if security screening would
allow the water and granola bar. I know sell all that there,
but I want to buy souvenires besides 2.50 for a water. Also
the public water in the area tastes very bad.

Everytime we go we take snacks like granola bars, rice krispie treats, and cereal bars AND a couple of bottles of water in our backpack. I've been 5 times since they started the bag checks and they don't care. They're not checking for that kind of stuff anyway. They're checking to make sure you're not bringing any weapons or anything dangerous into the parks. Just remember that the more bags you have inside your bags (like camera bags, snack bags, change purses, etc.) the longer it takes you to get through security. They will make you open every pocket and move the stuff around until they can see the bottom of the bag. But they really don't care if you bring water and snacks. Some people HAVE to bring that stuff...like people with babies have to bring bottles and stuff. There's really nothing they can or will do unless you try to carry in a big cooler or something like that.

When I went in November we brought bottles of water and snacks into the park and they didn't really mind. It is a great idea to bring your own water and snacks because saves alot of money.

Just got back this past Monday. We took our own water bottles in the park everyday without a problem. We also had snacks too. The security looks very briefly in your pack or poctetbooks coolers ect. We had a stroller with us with a basket on the bottom and they never looked in the basket part once! Have fun!

We've never had a problem. We fill up before we go in and then pull all kinds of food out of packs. Just be sure you aren't having a picnic lunch. They do frown on that...

Even with the security there is no problem with bringing food or drink in to the park.

I have always brought snacks & water bottles with me...even since the security checks. I've never had a problem. A CM friend told me that as long as people don't try to come in dragging coolers behind them, they will be fine.

It is ok to have snacks but if you are brining a whole picinc they will get mad. I always bring water and a few snacks in a backpack I bring into the parks with me.
